The college has been providing day and evening training for nearly a decade, but – as a result of community demand – this is the fi rst time it will be offered on weekends.The classes will be on three Saturdays and Sundays each month from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with an hour break for lunch. Scholarships are available.The year-long program combines class time with hands-on practice of massage techniques. Coursework includes anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, nutrition, business practices, ethics and specifi c massage modalities. Upon completion graduates of the program may apply for the MBLex exam to practice therapeutic massage in the state of North Carolina.Massage therapists can work in a variety of settings from private offi ces to spas and hospitals to fi tness centers. The occupation is growing fast and can be a great way for an entrepreneur to get started as a business owner.
