March 6, 2013 www.DesertMessenger.com Two special concerts for Paul Winer and friends By Joanne Winer Local bookstore owner and musician Paul Winer will be doing two more very special concerts this month. The rst will be a benet for the Q.I.A. on March 12 at 7 p.m. There will be no advanced ticket sales for this concert, just pay at the door-a donation of $5.00 per person. Paul has been doing concerts to sellout crowds at the Q.I.A. for the past three years, and for the past two years has been adding a special benet concert in March to show support for the Q.I.A. Said Paul I feel that the Q.I.A. is one of the most important parts of the winter scene here in Quartzsite, and the volunteers who run it do a phenomenal job with all the events they do there on a daily basis--I feel that this is one way we can show our support for all they do to make Quartzsite such a successful place to visit. As well as Paul, he will be accompanied by Ralph Martin, his sidekick and great one string washtub bass player, along with special guests valve trombone player Buddy Apfel, and longtime country guitar and vocalist Jerry Mullins. Doors open at 6 p.m. so get there early--remember--100% of the proceeds from this concert will go to the Q.I.A. Please come and help support the efforts of this wonderful place. This will be the last concert at the Q.I.A. this season. Paul will also be doing a rst concert at a brand new facility in Blythe on March 16.
