These days, not knowing exactly what to expect is the only thing you can expect from Elvis Costello, except for his unmistakable voice, nerdy glasses and sardonic wit. Elvis Costello emerged on the music scene in 1977 with his debut album My Aim is True, and quickly became a force in the music world giving us memorable songs like Alison, Radio Radio, Accidents Will Hap- pen, Pump It Up, Oliver's Army, (I Don't Want to Go to) Chelsea and Watching the Detectives. Since then, Costello has entered into acclaimed collaborations with Burt Bacharach, The Brodsky Quartet, Paul McCartney, mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter, guitarist Bill Frisell, composer Roy Nathanson, The Charles Mingus Orchestra, record Swedish producer and songwriter T Bone Burnett and Allen Toussaint. Elvis Costello and The Attractions were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003. Tickets range from $64 to $84, and are available at the Cascade Theatre Box Office at 1733 Market Street, by phone at 243- 8877 or directly through the Cascade Theatre website at www.cascadetheatre.org. Thorogood The joint will be jump- ing when Jefferson Public Radio and the Cascade The- atre present legendary blues rock band George Thoro- good and the Destroyers for a performance of all their greatest hits at the Cascade Theatre in Redding at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25. Delaware native blues- man George Thorogood became a 1980s rock 'n' roll icon recording memorable, raucous covers of blues standards One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer; Move It On Over; and Who Do You Love? along with his self-penned signature song Bad to the Bone. Orig- inally a minor league base- ball player, Thorogood decided to become a musi- cian in 1970 after attending a John Paul Hammond con- cert. He culled a guitar vocabulary straight from the '50s Chicago blues and rock 'n' roll traditions and formed The Destroyers, releasing his self-titled debut with the band in 1977. Tickets range from $34 to $54, and are available at the Cascade Theatre Box Office at 1733 Market Street, by phone at 243- 8877 or directly through the Cascade Theatre website at www.cascadetheatre.org.
