Theta Data 4 ohio theta T he Ohio Theta Alumni Volunteer Corporation (AVC) continues to work to support the chapter and look for new ways to engage alumni. gary lessis '83 recently stepped up to serve as our new chapter counselor. He brings advising experience from his work with other successful student groups and is already engaged with the new chapter executive council. bryan buechner '15 and faculty fellow Dr. Jeff bauer '88 recently facilitated a very productive executive council retreat. micah schehl '00 has filled the role of vice president of housing on the AVC and is focused on maintaining the physical structure of 321 Joselin. We are continuing to experiment with new and different ways to engage alumni. Our goal is to create a connection with the undergraduate brothers and alumni. The Alumni Speaker Series is taking shape and is pretty unique; it provides opportunities to interact with the chapter at large or as part of our Balanced Man Program. In November, we resurrected the Red Door Journey. mike taney '91, Joff moine '96, John abraham '77, Dave stevenson '77, mark greismer '97, and Jeff ewart '95 hosted groups of our Phi Challenge members at their homes to share SigEp experiences and reflections on our cardinal principles of Virtue, Diligence and Brotherly Love. It was also great seeing the alumni groups at Homecoming from the classes of '59 and '68, along with many young alumni. This year we will continue our outreach to alumni by offering new events and hosting our traditional events. We held our alumni basketball reception in the newly renovated UCATS club on February 4 vs. UCONN, where we had a joint reception with the 1991-1992 Final Four basketball team. It was great fun. Finally, thanks to the many alumni who support the chapter and continue to fulfill their donation pledges to the capital campaign. We are at a point where we have a substantial amount of pledges completed and we will soon be completing the recognition of pledges. We are blessed to have such strong support for the chapter from alumni and volunteers. I am humbled by your commitment and look forward to seeing you at an alumni event or around 321 Joselin this year.
