For some people their New Year's resolutions may already be a distant memory. But, it's my hope you are continuing to work on the goals you developed for 2017. I want to share with you one of the most valuable pieces of advice I have ever received. I use it and I have seen it successfully implemented by organizations throughout my 30 plus years advising business owners and executives. What is truly cool and great about this one piece of advice is that you will discover that it applies in personal and professional situations. This one piece of advice is truly simple. The advice is to take action on your goals and plans. Action, action, action! You must take action because it is only through the experience of doing that you make progress. It is only through action that you figure out what works and what doesn't work. This call to action is for the Chamber, our members and the community overall. This year marks my 10th year living in Fayetteville. I am more optimistic about the opportunities for our community than at anytime since I arrived. The community has a lot of plans and goals including City and County commitments to the NC Civil War History Center and the development of a Performing Arts Center. Both of these projects require action in 2017 to move them forward. Similarly, the Chamber is taking action on several initiatives including the hiring of a permanent CEO, planning our Annual Gala (hold Friday March 24th on your calendar), putting in place educational programs for our members, and the development of a golf outing for the spring. Here is the bottom-line, it does not matter how good your ideas may be, they will not become reality if they stay on the drawing board. It is time to take the action necessary to make them happen!
