Please keep the fol- lowing tips in mind if you're planning to plant a tree: • When planting under or within 25 feet of power lines, only plant shrubs or trees that won't grow more than 20 feet high. • Before you plant a tree, shrubs, or garden plants, make sure you know where your underground lines are. Just call NC 811 or visit www.nc811.org. They will locate and mark utility line locations. It's smart, safe and best of all… free! • Do not plant near utility underground transform- ers — those green boxes used when electric services are underground. Be sure to visit PWC at the Power and Water Con- servation Expo on April 22 to receive a free tree seedling (while supplies last). 2. Twist Apply pipe tape to be sure plumbing connections are sealed tight and give leaking faucets and shower heads a firm twist with a wrench. 3. Replace If you can't nip that drip, it may be time to replace the fixture. Look for WaterSense labeled models, which use at least 20% less water. For more information and tips about how to save water, visit Fayetteville PWC online or check out the EPA's WaterSense website at www.epa.gov/watersense. What's New: Annual Water Changeover Fayetteville PWC has temporarily stopped adding ammonia to its water treatment disinfection process. The annual water system maintenance is required by the State and lasts from March 1 - March 31. During the change, customers may notice a chlorine smell or taste in their water as well as see fire hydrants running to flush the system. Visit PWC online for more details.
