Re-Store Warehouse, a non-profit that promotes environmental sustainability, is sponsoring the document shredding. Re-Store sells new and used home improvement products and is offering event participants $10-off coupons for purchases of $50 or more at the Re-Store facility on Forsythe Street. Electronics that can be recycled include TVs less than 32 inches in size, stereos, lamps, vacuums, DVD players, radio and computers. The event's other partners include Cumberland County Solid Waste, City of Fayetteville, Fayetteville Beautiful and Sustainable Sandhills. E-Waste, Shred Event April 2 co.cumberland.nc.us Cumberland County Cooperative Extension Director Lisa Childers has received the Carol Birckhead Outstanding County Extension Director Award in recognition of her leadership, citizenship and contributions to the county. The statewide award was presented to Childers recently at the N.C. Cooperative Extension Annual Conference. Childers was nominated by her staff, peers, volunteers and county administration. She has been Cumberland County's extension director since 2010. Childers previously served as Harnett County Extension director. Cooperative Extension Livestock Agent Liz Lahti was one of nine agents in the Cooperative Extension Services South Central District to receive The Grange Search for Excellence Award for their efforts to support the N.C. Farm School and Military Farm School. The schools help farmers or prospective farmers learn about farming, marketing and business and military veterans who are about to enter agriculture. Extension Director, Agent Receive Awards Childers Lahti Rabies vaccination clinics will be held March 29 through April 21, every Tuesday and Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m., at different sites throughout the county. The cost is $10 per animal. The event showcases science and technology and raises awareness of the educational, cultural and financial impacts of science in the state.
