ByCamInman BayAreaNewsGroup SANTA CLARA Reminiscing about college can be fun, un- less you're cornerback Ken- neth Acker, and you're asked to recall the rise of Johnny Manziel, aka "Johnny Foot- ball." On Sunday, Acker and the San Francisco 49ers defense will face Manziel as he re- prises his role as the Cleve- land Browns' starting quar- terback. "I played him in college, so I've already heard a bunch of 'Johnny Football' stories and seen a couple games with my own eyes," Acker said Wednesday. Manziel accounted for six touchdowns — four passing, two rushing — to produce his first college win three years ago, against Acker's South- ern Methodist team. Manziel went on to win the Heisman Trophy that year at Texas A&M, and he routed SMU again the next year. 49ers cornerback Acker wary of Browns' young star Manziel NFL Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel (2) plays against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Pittsburgh on Nov. 15. A source confirmed the Raid- ers will announce the deal shortly. ESPN was the first to report the extension, with the NFL Network releasing the terms that include a total value of $35 million, with $19 million guaranteed. Crabtree leads the Raiders with 66 receptions and seven touch- downs and is second on the team with 760 yards. He's on pace to ex- ceed his career high of 85 catches, match his career high in touch- downs of nine and record the sec- ond 1,000-yard receiving season of his career. His production comes after the Raiders grabbed Crabtree in the offseason for a bargain price of $3.2 million for one year after he failed to generate a ton of inter- est in the open market following six seasons with the 49ers. Crabtree had just 68 catches for 698 yards and four touchdowns last season with San Francisco and played in just five games the year before following a torn Achil- les injury.
