Peanut butter is arguably the best thing since sliced bread and even better, the best thing between sliced bread. It's too bad, however, that this condiment is often no more than a childhood memory, a jar of creamy (or crunchy) nostalgia left to lunchbox meals and after-school snacks. What' s worse is Octo- ber's peanut butter price increase due to the scarce peanut crop this year. But don't let the draught dry out your wallet too. Peanut butter is so much more than the old standby for choosy moms. Make the most of your jar and add a new level of deliciousness to your home-cooked dinners by working peanut butter into your cooking. Here are five ways to work P.B. into an all-grown-up entrée. Police reports The following informa- tion is compiled from Red Bluff Police Department, Tehama County Sheriff's Department, Corning Police Department and California Highway Patrol. Collision • A Canadian woman and her passenger escaped injury in a collision at 8:47 a.m. Thursday with the tire of a southbound big rig that ended up in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5. Michael Webber, 42, of Modesto was driving north in the slow lane, when for unknown reasons the left front tire and rim of the semi he was driving came off and went in a northwest direction across the center divider and into the south- bound lane where it hit a 2009 Ford Ranger, pulling a travel trailer, driven by Jean Sternberg, 28, of Madeira Park, British Columbia. The impact on the left rear of the Ford caused it to spin clockwise, which caused the vehicle to jack knife with the trailer detach- ing itself from the Ford and overturn. Arrests • Sheriff's deputies helped out Chico Police officers who were looking for a suspect driving into Tehama County. Officers pulled Ronald Lee Webber Jr., 20, over in a 1997 Honda on Highway 99W near Dietz Equipment Sales in Proberta. Webber was arrested and taken to the county line where he was handed over to the Chico Police Department. • Samuel Morphin Cis- neros, 51, of Redwood Val- ley was arrested Wednesday at the Tehama County Jail. He was charged on two arrest warrants for posses- sion of a controlled sub- stance for sale and posses- sion of a controlled sub- stance. Bail was set at $250,000. • Berry James Woolbert, 34, of Red Bluff, and Keith Eugene Ferry, 45, of Orland were arrested by California Highway Patrol officers Wednesday on Bowman Road near Amen Laser Ser- vice in Cottonwood. Wool- bert was charged with pos- session of a controlled sub- stance and driving on a sus- pended license with a DUI charge. Bail for him was set at $16,900. Ferry was 1. Burglary • Officers investigated a burglary Wednesday at the Oak Creek Golf Course, 2620 Montgomery Road. Several storage containers were broken into and items were stolen, including golf equipment and gas cans. The incident occurred between 2 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday. This case is under investigation. Update • Wesley Mathew Dulle, 48, of Red Bluff, who had been arrested on charges of threatening a crime with intent to terrorize was released from jail within 48 hours when the District Attorney declined to file charges. Dulle had reported- ly made comments during a phone call that were consid- ered threatening at the time, but the DA's office reviewed the case and decided that there was no proof of inten- tion, and it was just an angry outburst by the suspect. Vandalism • The right front tire of a yellow 2000 Hyundai was reported slashed Wednes- day in the 1300 block of Deborah Drive. The $60 damage occurred between midnight and 8:23 a.m. • The front driver's side window of a red 2005 Ford Taurus was reported broken Wednesday in the 1200 block of South Jackson Street. The incident, caus- ing $200 damage, occurred between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 8:23 a.m. Wednesday. • A man requested extra patrol Wednesday when an satay to shrimp stir-fry, peanut but- ter leaves plenty of room for cre- ative culinary freedom. 4. A few boxes were damaged, but there was no monetary loss. Violence • A caller reported Wednesday seeing a man choking a woman in the first block of Belle Mill Road. The woman drove away in a blue Toyota Corolla west- bound on Antelope Boule- vard. The bearded man, wearing a black leather jacket, hat and red shirt, was last seen walking toward Luigi's Pizza. Officers pulled over the woman in her vehicle and took a report about the incident, but the parties involved said it was only a verbal argument. Pump slump • Employees at one of the Red Bluff AM PM sta- tions Wednesday called officers about a woman slumped over her steering wheel of her silver 2007 Dodge in the fueling bay. Officers found that she was merely sleeping. She agreed to park and rest for a few hours before returning home. Pot tin roof • A 24-year-old man called deputies Wednesday claiming his brother stole his six medical marijuana plants. When officers arrived, the man told them he was going to report the incident to the FBI and that there was $300,000 tied to the plants hidden in a thorn bush in the front yard in the 8100 block of Buena Vista Avenue in Los Molinos. He also said someone had been sitting on his roof the past several days. Then, deputies spoke to the man's mother who said there had never been marijuana plants on the property. The incident was logged but no report was filed.
