2A Daily News – Friday, October 7, 2011 Community people&events Brown-Boal wed Foey bags antelope in September hunt Antelope hunting tags in California are very difficult to get drawn for. Some hunters apply for years and never get drawn. Hunter Russ Foey of Red Bluff applied for the difficult draw to hunt ante- lope for 20 years before his name was drawn. He bagged an antelope Sept. 3, the opening day of the second period of the hunting season firing three shots at a distance of 525 yards. Maurice E. Brown III and Marianne E. Boal of Den- ver, Colo., exchanged marriage vows at Chapel of the Bells in South Lake Tahoe, Aug. 4, 2011. Tiffeny Boal of Vallejo, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. Robert Doak of Orland, grandfather of the groom, was the best man. The bride was walked down the aisle and given away by her father Keith Boal. Marianne is the daughter of Mickey and Keith Boal of Bailey, Colo. She graduated from the Platte Canyon High School in Bailey in 1998. Maurice is the son of Nancy J. Brown and the late Maurice Earl Brown of Red Bluff. He graduated from Red Bluff Union High School in 1998. Wedding guests were the bride's parents, Mickey and Keith Boal; grandparents Barb and Don Boal and aunt Vivian Boal, all of Bailey; and sister Tiffeny Boal of Vallejo. Other guests were the groom's mother Nancy Brown and brother John Brown of Red Bluff; grandparents Robert and Evelyn Doak and aunt Linda Hill, all from Orland; uncle Bob and Aunt Wanda Doak from Con- cord; great aunt Irene Baker of Anderson; Jeanie Brew- er, Ann McConnell, Mary Rickard and Florence and Tim Klock, all of Redding; and best friend Alisha Pat- terson of Lake Havasu City, Ariz. The antelope was shot in Likely in Modoc County in the Likely Tables hunt zone. Foey bagged the ani- mal after missing every one of 12 shots fired at other antelope that morning. Foey's dog, Buddy, went along for the ride, but didn't participate in the hunt. Courtesy photo Russ Foey drew a once in a lifetime hunt for antelope in September. No Butt Left Behind — diaper drive Any parent will tell you it is a terrible inconvenience to run out to the drug store late at night because you ran out of diapers. This occasional inconvenience is nothing compared to the crisis unfolding across the nation for families who are unable to provide their children with an adequate supply of diapers. Low-income families in our community often have to decide whether to buy food or diapers. No matter the preference… cloth and disposable diapers cost a lot. Cost estimates show that disposable diapers will run approximately $50 to $80 per month, using a diaper service will cost approximately $50 to $80 per month and laundering your own cloth diapers will cost slightly less at approximately $25 to $60 per month. Help the Tehama County Health Partnership give these families a much needed break and donate a package of diapers. Together we can make a difference – not only for parents but for many babies in our community. Tehama County's unemployment rate climbed to 16.5 percent in July 2011. Tehama County has 29.8 per- cent of our children living in fami- lies with incomes below the federal poverty level. Woman Complains She Was Robbed; Story is Doubted An elderly woman giving the name Mary Bohn told the local police today she was robbed of a purse containing $5 while sitting in the depot last evening. She said she suspected some hard looking men who were in the passenger room of responsibility for the theft. The officers, however, placed little credence in her story. Mrs. Bohn said she was from San Francis- co, where she had claims to valuable property that others were trying to cheat her out of. — Oct. 7, 1921 Richfield Neighborhood Watch is holding a meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 10 at the Richfield Fire Station.
