The National Conference, which includes Red Bluff and Corning High Schools, would have two separate league structures beginning with the 2012-2013 school year. One for football and one for all other sports. In all sports except football Red Bluff would be placed in the Eastern Athletic League - North with Enterprise, Foothill, Shasta and West Valley. Corning would stay in the Northern Athletic League and be joined by Anderson, Central Valley, Lassen and Yreka. The Eastern Athletic League - South would be com- prised of Chico, Las Plumas, Oroville, Paradise and Pleasant Valley. In just football, there would be one Eastern Athletic League. The seven-school league would be made up of Red Bluff along with Chico, Enterprise, Foothill, Par- adise, Pleasant Valley, and Shasta. West Valley would still play football in the NAL, to make a six-team football league. Las Plumas and Oroville would play football along with Gridley, Orland, Sutter, Wheatland and Winters in the Butte View League. GOLF Special to the DN Wilcox Oaks Golf Club hosted one of its premier golf events this past weekend — the Third Annual Couples “Spring Fling” Open. Sixty-four cou- ples from all over the North State com- peted in the Chapman format tourna- ment. Couples score as a team and hit alternate shots after selecting the best ball after two preliminary hits. Because each player depends upon his or her partner, the format is often called “Divorce court golf”. Additionally, 46 couples played in the Horserace tournament held on Sat- urday after the first round of play.
