This year's parade theme is "Rodeo Ready." Entry forms for the 59th Annual Red Bluff Round Up Parade, which takes place at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 19, are now available at the Red Bluff Chamber office at 100 Main St. and on w w w . r e d bluffchamber.com. Please sign up online with your script. The entry fee for the parade is $25 online or $30 for paper registration — mail, email, fax or walkins. Free for all Pooper Scoopers. The 2014 Parade deadline is April 1. Applications must have a script to be accepted. The Red Bluff Round Up Parade will feature 100-125 entrants, including bands, floats, classic cars, horses — hence the Pooper Scoopers — public officials, rodeo queens and kids. First and second place trophies will be awarded in over 26 categories, while Sweepstakes Trophies are up for grabs for Best Band, Best Equestrian Unit and Best Depiction of Theme. Pay It Forward hiring drive This past holiday season, Express Employment Professionals offices across the United States and Canada joined together to Pay It Forward by hosting hiring drives and events in an effort to put job seekers to work. The Red Bluff Express office secured work for 13 more people during the holidays. The goal of this drive was to help give encouragement and pur- pose to as many job seekers as possible by providing them the opportunity to earn a week's worth of pay before the holidays and help provide for their families. This benefit concert is to raise money to re-open Rodger's Theater. There will be four bands performing: Jorge Jones, Nude and True, Chain of Dogs and the featured band will be Transfer from San Diego who will perform at 10:15 p.m. Every band has a connection to Corning. The lead singer in Transfer, Matt Malarius and guitarist, Jason Cardenas, grew up in Corning and are Corning High graduates. They have toured Europe several times and performed before audiences of thousands. They recorded in Abbey Road Studios and had the privilege of receiving a surprise visit from Paul McCartney who commended them on their music. Check them out on Facebook. If you go to the Chamber's website, www.corningcachamber.org and click on Facebook you will see the video of an acoustic song that Matt and Jason wrote about their hometown, Corning called Reflections of Home that is on their new album, Shadow Aspect. The album is only available on their website in Deluxe Vinyl, but will be released officially on March 25, in all formats, so watch for it. Tickets are $10 at the door or you can purchase them at the Corning Chamber of Commerce, AmericanWest Bank and Rabobank. There is a place where you can make a donation on PayPal or you may send a check. • May Madness Car Show – The next car show committee meeting will be next Tuesday at 5:30 pm at the Chamber office, 1110 Solano Street. We are looking for those who are interested and knowledgeable about cars to join us on the committee. You don't have to be a chamber member to volunteer. If you know of anyone that might be interested please let them know that we will be meeting. The date for the car show is May 2 and 3, 2014. Please contact the Chamber at 824-5550 for more information. • Computer Class – Facebook and Me is the name of the class offered this Saturday, Feb. 1 at Fountain of Health, 1415 Solano St. The class starts promptly at 1 p.m. and ends at 4 p.m. The class is for the person who has been trying to use Facebook, is confused with what "friends" means. What is your "wall"? How do I post pictures? You will learn the various 'buzz' words for using Facebook as well as the ever important need for, and setting up security with your account. If you don't have an account they will help you set up an account after class. You don't need a computer for the class but I you are bringing a laptop, tablet, or smart phone to the class, please arrive at least 15 minutes early to get set up with the Internet connection and let them know in advance so adequate tables can be furnished. • Grand Opening – Corning Sweets at 1600 Solano St. will be having their Grand Opening Wednesday, Feb. 5.
