Refugees aim to preserve unique Vietnamese faith POMONA (AP) — American followers of the Viet- namese religion of Cao Dai (KOW DY) are trying to make the faith more accessible to younger believers as their ranks grow older. Cao Dai was carried to the U.S. and nurtured for decades by refugees of the Vietnam War. The faith was born in 1926 out of a series of spirit seances. It’s monotheistic but incorporates elements of the oldest and most established religions. In the natural realm water, wind, ice and waves cause erosion. Ero- sion wears away at the surface of the earth. Spiritual erosion wears away at truth. It attacks the very roots of Christianity. The Bible warns us to watch out for false teachers. "But there were also false prophets among the peo- ple, even as there will be false teach- ers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction" (2 Peter 2:1). There are many forms of fallacy today, and with the computer age the availabil- ity to pagan information has "sky rocketed." "When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear, sexual immorality, impurity, lustful plea- sures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, out-bursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God" (Galatians 6:19-21 NLT). People are hungry for answers to life and they are looking to supernat- ural means. Distorted offers that look like truth are everywhere. Such practices are not new, for they are clearly listed in the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. God’s Word gives clear warning throughout the entire Bible. "When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, be very careful not to imitate the detestable customs of the nations living there. For example, never sac- rifice your son or daughter as a burnt offering. And do not let your people practice fortune-telling, or use sor- cery, or interpret omens, or engage in witchcraft, or cast spells, or func- tion as mediums or psychics, or call forth the spirits of the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD…"(Deuteronomy 18:9-12). False teaching often Erosion amounts to sorcery. very popular. Many Christians are now considering this lie! Scripture makes truth very clear. "And as it is appoint- ed for men to die once, but after this the judgment" (Hebrews 9:27). A careful study of the book of Colossians will answer any seekers ques- tions about who Jesus real- ly is! He is not a Great Ascended Master, as occultists have stated. Some teachers of false doc- trine even list names of the "Ascended Masters," such as Jesus, Mary, Gautama Buddha, El Morya and more. All false teachers attempt to displace Jesus – putting Him in a lower position. He did not have to "climb the ladder" to become one of the Ascended Mas- ters or any other special enlightened one! Many of these claim to be born again Christians! But Jesus is Lord of all or He is not Lord at all. We cannot have it both ways. To try is exactly like attempting to drink a glass of milk with a glass of deadly poison. Death will always be the result from linking such a combina- tion together. Jesus is the only begotten Son of God. "He is the image of the invis- ible God, the firstborn over all cre- ation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist" (Colossians 1:15-17 NKJ). Jesus is God! "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and with- out Him nothing was made that was The subject of reincarnation is Yet, made" (John 1:1,2 NKJ)."For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Him- self, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross" (Colos- sians 1:19,20 NKJ). Jesus is the sovereign Patricia Martin GodTalk and sufficient Potentate. Jesus Christ is not only the Creator of the entire universe, but He is the Sustainer (1:17). The false teachers at Colos- sae attempted to destroy the main doctrines of Christianity, including the deity of Jesus, and His absolute lordship and His sufficiency. The first two chapters in Colossians were written to defend the truth. Let us love people enough to set them free from false teachings. Do not be afraid to share and teach truth. This is a time for each one of us to lay our timidity aside, embrace truth and disciple our brethren. We can’t bring them into the Kingdom of God without being willing to show them the way. Jesus is the way. Jesus said – "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6 NKJ). "Patricia Martin is a missionary/evangelist and a Recognized Ministry with the Assemblies of God. She is the founder of God's Precious Jewels, Inc., a ministry to Native American children and their families. The ministry began in 2000, and has provided thousands of free Bibles and other Gospel literature in California, Nevada, Arizona, Idaho, and South Dakota.
