CUMBERLAND Libraries Host Health Law Meetings The Cumberland County Public Library and Information Center will host a series of meetings to help the public better understand the Affordable Care Act and how it will affect citizens. The meetings will be held at the following locations and times: • Oct. 20 at 2 p.m., Headquarters Library, 300 Maiden Lane • Oct. 21 at 1 p.m., Hope Mills Branch, 3411 Golfview Dr. • Oct. 22 at 6:30 p.m., North Regional Branch, 855 McArthur Rd. • Oct. 23 at 3:30 p.m., West Regional Branch, 7469 Century Cir. • Oct. 24, 10 a.m., East Regional Branch, 4809 Clinton Rd. Certified Application Counselors from Stedman-Wade Family Health Center will go over the ACA and provide information if you need to purchase health insurance. Call 483-7727 for information. County Adds Online GIS Data Viewer Cumberland County Information Services has added a GIS Data Viewer to the county's website to expand map viewing options. The improvements were made in response to feedback from the public and will aid citizens using the maps to conduct personal or commercial business. These online features are available at http://gis. co.cumberland.nc.us. The GIS Data Viewer offers county maps that can be viewed through several layers with one click. Any number of layers can be turned on or off. The layers include city limits, utilities, parcels, streets, addresses, contours, buildings, subdivisions, soils and zoning. The GIS Data Viewer has a legend for each layer and tools to measure area and distance. The map provides links to the Cumberland County Tax Assessor's website for each parcel. Grant Will Help Re-Open Baby Store The Cumberland County Health Department has received a $5,000 grant from the Dr. Ann F. Wolfe Endowment for Child Health and Infant Mortality to help fund the Baby Store Project. Originally founded in 2010, the Baby Store was forced to close in 2011 because Cumberland County Health Director Buck of funding. The Wilson accepts a $5,000 check from the Dr. returning incentive Ann F. Wolfe Endowment for Child Health and Infant Mortality presented by Durham program awards County Health Director Gayle Harris at the "Baby Bucks" North Carolina Public Health Association to patients who Conference Sept. 19. attend scheduled clinic appointments and participate in educational programs to reduce infant mortality and increase safe parenting. The store will primarily serve low-income clients ages 18 to 44 living in Cumberland County. The Maternity Clinic and Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Nutrition Services sections will distribute the bucks, and patients can redeem them in the baby store for items such as diapers, car seats, cribs and safety gear.
