We recommend you talk to whoever is in charge and ask that a dress code be established and consequences spelled out — including termination for someone who repeatedly and deliberately refuses to adhere to the requirements of the job. This girl undoubtedly believes her exhibitionism is appealing. But it is actually a source of ogling and amusement at her expense. She should save it for after hours. Dear ''No Hypocrite in Paducah, Ky.,'' who is addicted to alcohol, criticized family members for being addicted to food. He said, ''How is it more legitimate to grab a doughnut when under stress than to pour myself a cocktail?'' There is a huge difference. I grew up in a home where both of my parents were alcoholics. Alcohol changes a person's behavior toward others. Food does not. I would much rather have had obese parents than emotionally damaging alcoholics. I wouldn't have needed so many years in therapy. — Lynn in Louisville Annie's Mailbox is written by Kathy Mitchell and Marcy Sugar, longtime editors of the Ann Landers column. Telephone promotions target seniors Passages HICAP (Health Insurance Counseling & Advocacy Program) is warning savvy seniors about a new telemarketing scheme that has been reported in our area. Seniors have reported receiving calls promoting a mail-order diabetic supply service, even though they are not diabetic. This new wave of telemarketing calls comes on the heels of new Medicare rules on how people with Medicare can get their diabetic supplies via mail order. The recent calls that seniors have been receiving appear to be coming from within the United States, however investigation suggests they are coming from Canada or other countries. The new Medicare rules, part of the Durable Medical Equipment Prosthetic Orthotics and Supplies (DMEPOS) expansion, required that diabetic suppliers competitively bid with Medicare to become authorized vendors for mail order supplies effective July 1. This has caused many companies to no longer be accredited to be contracted with Medicare, causing beneficiaries to seek other sources to get their diabetic supplies, such as lancets, test strips, etc. via mail-order. This change has been troubling for some who are home bound or who cannot go to their local Medicare contracted pharmacy, causing them to be targets of unsolicited telemarketing calls. Medicare will help pay for supplies if a mail-order contract supplier is used or obtained from a local pharmacy or storefront. Local stores don't have to be Medicare contract suppliers unless they're also offering diabetic supplies through the mail. Check with your pharmacy to find out if you can get your diabetic supplies at the new mail-order price. Based on bids submitted, beneficiaries and Medicare will see prices, on average 72 percent lower on diabetic testing supplies nationwide. Consumers, physicians and other providers can find a list of Medicare contract suppliers in their areas by visiting www.medicare.gov/supplier/home.asp or call HICAP at 1-800-4340222. If seniors are receiving unsolicited calls offering diabetic supplies or asking for personal banking information, HICAP is asking that they get as much information from the caller, then contact HICAP and ask for the SMP (Senior Medicare Patrol) Fraud Liaison. We will take your information and alert the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) as needed. It is important to know that Medicare or Social Security will never call you to verify your address or bank account information or anything else. Unless you have called them first and requested a return call back contact, Medicare or Social Security does not make outbound calls.
