Wednesday, May 15, 2013 – Daily News Hospital announces community grant funding opportunity St. Elizabeth Community Hospital, a Dignity Health Member, is preparing for the annual community grants application process. The Community Grants Process is a grant funding opportunity made possible to eligible 501(c) 3 organizations and agencies. Grant dollars are based on the financial performance of St. Elizabeth Community Hospital. Total dollars available for this year is $38,184 to applicants, upon approval. The application process begins in June with the submission of an electronic copy of the letter of intent. All funding requests must be for no less than $10,000. The letters of intent are reviewed by a selection committee organized by Sr. Pat Manoli, Senior director of Mission Integration, whereby finalists are invited to submit a full proposal. All community grant forms are available on the Dignity Health website http://www.dignityhealth.org/Who_We_A re/Community_Health/STGSS045787 and may be submitted to northstategrants@hotmail.com. The letters of intent are due June 21, 5 p.m.; only electronic copies of the letter of intent and full proposal will be accepted. Grant projects should focus on collaboration and partnership among programs and directly impact one of the top identi- fied health needs of the community as chosen by the St. Elizabeth Community Hospital Advisory Council from the 2011 Community Health Needs Assessment. These areas include Obesity, Drug Abuse and Chronic Health Conditions such as Diabetes or Congestive Heart Failure. "The Community Grant program is an important part of our role in the community and a meaningful way we can demonstrate our values and support of health and wellness in the community," Manoli said. "We are fortunate to have a dedicated group of community members who enjoy their involvement on the selection committee and the help of Amy Schutter of North State Grant Solutions to ensure our process is objective and directly tied to our community health needs." This year a new form of support for applicants will be offered by St. Elizabeth. Schutter, of North State Grant Solutions, will hold office hours to assist anyone submitting a letter of intent CHW Community Grant application. Schutter will be in the Coyne Center on the St. Elizabeth campus 3-4:30 p.m. June 14. Appointments are on a first come first serve basis. Amy, a graduate of Chico State with a degree in Health and Community Services and holds a National Certified Health Education Specialist certificate. Nonprofit Roundtable set Thursday Kate Bourland, with an extended involvement in online marketing and social media, has enjoyed many successes using Social Media to achieve marketing objectives. At the May 17 meeting of Tehama County's Nonprofit Roundtable, Bourland will share some of her success stories and present options for local follow-up training. In addition, nonprofit insurance options through the Nonprofits' Insurance Alliance Group (NIAG) will be discussed by Andrew Christ from Truman Christ Insurance. NIAG, itself being a nonprofit, is the carrier of choice for many nonprofits throughout California. Two multiagency fundraising options will also be presented for participation by all interested county nonprofits. Working in collaboration with Red Bluff's Gold Exchange, registered nonprofits will be eligible to receive Bonus Bucks when anyone sells their gold during July and mentions the nonprofit. PATH will invite local nonprofits to join their September walk-a-ton and share in the proceeds. Tips on using Facebook by Lew Beitz from Rancho Tehama Community Foundation and an introduction to Tehama 21-1 by Gail Locke of Tehama Together will round out this fast-mov- ing program. The Nonprofit Roundtable, established in September 2012, meets monthly to provide support for and collaboration with local nonprofit agencies. All local nonprofits and faith-based organizations are invited to attend. Meetings are held on the third Friday of the month from noon until 1:30 p.m. in the Patio Room of Lariat Bowl at 365 S. Main St. in Red Bluff. A variety of reasonably priced lunch options are available.
