NWA Democrat-Gazette Best of the Best 4 Sunday, October 29, 2017 By Dave Woods NWA Democrat-Gazette M elanie Chase said she knows why Indigo Sky Casino is so popular with residents of Northwest Arkansas. "Customer service is our number one priority," Melanie, the casino's assistant general manager, said. "We have a lot of long term employees here who have created relationships with our guests that most casinos haven't. We go above and beyond to make sure that people have a great time when they are here playing." The staff devote themselves to understanding the needs of Indigo Sky's patrons, a commitment that allows for a greater level of service. "The biggest thing is that our staff is out there each and every day with our guests," the 25-plus year casino veteran said. Relationships, Melanie said, are what it's all about. "The relationship between the employee and the player is so important," she said. "It is just an extension of our family." While relationships and anticipating a player's needs are both important to Melanie, she knows the quality of the casino experience is also dependent on the quality of the gaming fl oor. Melanie said she will put hers up against any casino around. "Almost all of the games are new," she said. "We have new cabinets. The fl oor is up to date, especially on our progressive games. Our game vendors are always providing us new games. We have people go to the Global Gaming Exposition. They are always sourcing out new games and deciding on the new titles they want to bring in." But, of course, everyone does have a favorite and the casino staff work to make sure they please as many players as possible. "One of the things I fi nd is that people like television or movie themed games like 'The Walking Dead,'" she explained. "We always make sure we have those on the fl oor. Everyone has their favorite. We get asked, 'When are going to get this or are you going to have this?' We select a great game mix to please everyone." The great mix of entertaining slots, table games, bingo and off- track betting isn't the only concern for casino staff. People need to eat, drink, be entertained, and maybe fi nd a place to rest their heads following a winning night on the casino fl oor. Indigo Sky has that covered. "We just expanded the hotel with 127 more rooms," Melanie said. "So if you don't want to go home you can stay and close down the bar or play bingo then just pop in and grab a room so you don't have to go home." Hungry? Check out the dining options available. "Chef Dell and his team does a great job," Melanie bragged. "We have buffets every night. We have crab legs buffets. People actually fl ock here for the buffets. We have live entertainment Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at Indigo Sky and our sister property, Bordertown Arena and Casino, has live entertainment on Friday and Saturday." Melanie is happy for the support Northwest Arkansas residents show to the casino and the Indigo Sky staff. "I think that if you are looking for fun and great food and entertainment this is the place to be," she said. "It's right on the Oklahoma and Missouri line and not far from Northwest Arkansas."
