GREENWOOD — For two straight seasons, the Greenwood Bulldogs have stood on the cusp of an undefeated state championship season, only to come up short in the end. Losses to Pine Bluff in 2015 and Rus- sellville in 2016 in the Class 6A state title game at War Memorial Stadium have left the the program a little empty. "They sting a lot," said Greenwood coach Rick Jones, who's led the Bulldogs to six state championships and 10 con- ference titles. "That's the thing. The fact that you've done it, you know what the last game feels like it. It makes you want to win the last game." Greenwood has gone 24-2 the last two seasons and has a record of 150-23 in 13 seasons under Jones, who's been one of the most successful coaches in state history. Jones said other programs might have some satisfaction about having a strong season and reaching the state title game. "But not around here," he said. "Not We match competitor's prices!
