Wr Zack Elsey (5-11, 170, sr.) dB Cyrus Crow (5-11, 155, Jr.) THE SKINNY after making the playoffs a season ago, hunstville is looking to build off that success. That might be difficult with how young the team is going to be this year. Barnhill said he plans on start - ing three or four sophomores on the offensive line. … QB sean McCone has improved after being "thrown in- to the fire last year" as Barnhill puts it. he pointed to McCone's growth at understanding pre-snap reads as an example. … huntsville changed its offense, in part to better suit Mc - Cone. The Eagles will still be an op- tion team but will be in more spread looks, Barnhill said. The team start- ed to lean toward that style at the end of last year, but went all in during the offseason. … The strength of the team is it's skill positions. rB/dB Cyrus Crow will be one of the fea- ture back Barnhill plans to use this season in a platoon role. Wr Zack Elsey (4.6 speed) didn't play a year ago but he's a player the team will rely on Barnhill said. … OL Bobby Marshall came off of an aCL injury and was expected to be at 100 percent for the opener. … The defense is another area Barnhill and his staff have changed. The Eagles will run a 3-4 set instead of the 4-3 style they ran last year because they had more hybrid players that can play OLB and dB positions. COACH SPEAK "We're excited about building off of last year. Making the playoffs is something we haven't done in five years. We're hoping we can just take these guys to the next level," Barnhill said. sCHeDule sept. 1 ............. at green Forest Oct 6 ................................ gentry* sept. 8 ................ at Farmington Oct. 13 ........................ at Lincoln* sept. 15 ........................... THE SKINNY The Wolves just missed the playoffs for a second straight season last year after a close loss to huntsville, but coach don harrison is excited about what his group this year can do, despite expectations for them to finish toward the bottom of the conference. … Caleb Lloyd fills a void left by two-time, all-conference quarterback harrison swayne. The QB slides over to the position from being the Wolves' No. 1 ground option where he racked up over 1,900 career rushing yards the past two seasons. That dual-threat ability will be a plus for the first-year quarterback, harrison said. … Wr Braden umberson (six touchdowns in 2016) will be Lloyd's go-to threat as the team's top returning receiver. … rB Jacob anderson takes over primary ballcarrier duties this season and see an increased workload from his three carries per game average last season. … harrison's son, Trea, returns as the top offensive lineman from a season ago and will move from center to tackle in his third season as a start - er. … dB yue Phen Lee uses his 4.7 speed to make plays in the secondary. COACH SPEAK "We have some guys with a lot of experi- ence and we're hoping that helps. In the past, that was one of our problems. We had some guys in spots that only got to play when they were seniors and didn't get to play much as a junior or sophomore. We have a lot of guys in really important posi - tions that have played as a sophomore, junior and now going into their senior year without moving spots. Lloyd has been our tail- back as a freshman and sophomore, so the Friday Night Lights is something they shouldn't struggle with right of the bat. We're hop- ing for a good start because there won't be any nerves," harrison said. sCHeDule sept. 1 .......... at Westville, Okla.
