Louisiana-Lafayette Nov. 18 .......................................... Texas A&M Nov. 23 ............................. at Mississippi State OUTLOOK Things are a mess at Ole Miss. The Rebels can't compete for the SEC championship or play in a bowl because of self-imposed sanctions by the Ole Miss ad- ministration as a result of the football pro- gram being accused of committing 21 NCAA rules violations. … Houston Nutt, the former Razorbacks and Rebels coach, is suing Ole Miss officials claiming a smear campaign with the media in which he claims he was unjustly blamed for most of the alleged viola- tions. Oh, and Hugh Freeze was forced to re- sign as the Rebels' coach in late July after a review of his cellphone records — prompted by Nutt's lawsuit — revealed he had called an escort service. … Despite all the off-the-field issues, the Rebels have some pretty good players, notably sophomore quarterback Shea Patterson, and could be a dangerous team if they get off to a good start. But if the Rebels falter early, as happened at Arkansas in 2012 when John L. Smith replaced Bobby Petrino as coach, it will be tough for Ole Miss interim Coach Matt Luke to hold the team together.
