David Piercy, a Christian, who previously lived a life filled with alcohol, drugs and theft, founded the ministry. His life was forever changed after receiving Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. After his conversion, Piercy felt God's call to start a men's home to help men with sub- stance abuse problems and to help them grow spiritually. Since 2005, over 400 men from all walks of life have re- sided at the Master's House. The home accommodates seven men at a time and pro- vides an environment where they can live a stable, healthy and spiritual lifestyle. They are provided with a Christian influ- ence and fellowship. The Mas- ter's House believes that good, sound Biblical doctrine and Christian living is paramount in overcoming addictions of any kind. The Master's House uses Christian principles and the fel- lowship of the local church as the guide for a new way of life that is dependent on our spir- itual condition, not drugs and alcohol. They accept men who come to them directly or who have been referred through family members, Pastors, the legal system, undergone a treatment program, or who have been released from a detox facility. The men are required to abstain from drugs, alcohol and tobacco while they are a resident. For account- ability purposes, The Master's House does random drug, al- cohol and tobacco testing to ensure compliance. The Master's House anni- versary celebration was held at Kings Mountain's Love Valley Baptist Church fellow- ship hall. Love Valley Baptist Church is the sending church of The Master's House and the church supports sixty-four other missionaries. They are a very mission-minded church, obeying the command in Mat- thew 28, to go into all the world and share the gospel. Rev. Barry Philbeck is their pastor. The group who came to- gether to celebrate was very gracious, friendly and thank- ful. Joy Piercy provided music and everyone sang together. There was a time of fellowship, prayer and testimonies. Pastor Mike Miller opened the celebration in prayer. Piercy addressed the con- gregation and shared about the on-going work of the min- istry. Their building fund is at $65,400 this year, up from $54,150 from last year. They are in the process of raising $100,000 to purchase their own home. The Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts provide sup- port and continue to be faith- ful each year to bring food to The Master House. So far they have donated 43,000 lbs. of food to the ministry. Pastor Jeremy Hoyle was on hand to give a short testi- mony to God's faithfulness. Pastor Hoyle has been diligent to minister to the men at The Master's House for the past ten years. His message was "Al- ways wait on God and every- thing will fall into place." This season of teaching prepared him for the ministr y. He is now pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Boone, NC. Ralph Painter, a retired minister, delivered an im- portant and powerful mes- sage entitled, "Who Cares?" He stressed the importance of reaching others for Christ and caring for them. He em- phasized that Love Valley is a church "who cares" and gave a charge to Christians that "they should care". Brother Painter preaches at The Master's House on a regular basis and also does devotions with the men. Jerry Loewnau, the very first resident of Master's House attended the celebration, along with his family, all the way from Georgia. Jerry has become a good friend to Brother Piercy and continues to support the Master's House. IN MEMORY Special honor and rec- ognition was given to Milton Andrews, former writer and photojournalist for the Shelby Shopper & Info and Rutherford Weekly. Milton passed away in December, 2015. A plaque of recognition was presented to the newspapers on behalf of Milton. David Piercy and his wife Joy, remembered Milton with these kind words: "Mr. Andrews was a dear friend to all of us and felt like family. During the past eleven years, he was at The House for every event we had such as the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts annual food drive at our home. At our anniversary, he always came in smiling and enjoyed meet- ing and talking with the people. He just always fit in. He en- couraged us to keep on trying to help men in need and not give up. He was thrilled to hear the testimonies of the men who had come through The House and how God had completely changed their lives. Through- out the years he shared some of the testimonies of the men in the Shelby Shopper. Several men came to The House as a result of reading the newspa- per articles he had written. He was eager to meet the Pastors and family members who are the support group behind our ministry. We always enjoyed having him there and, when it came time to leave, he always said "See you next year – I wouldn't miss it". His presence is greatly missed." The Master's House is a 501 (C) 3 Non-Profit Corporation with an active Board of Directors. They derive support from churches, individu- als, the community, foundations, and others who recog- nize the work they do. They receive no State or Federal Funding.
