At their board meeting, several things were discusses about where the next funding should go. After talking over several options, one of the things needed was to help getting the bathrooms fi nished for the new concession stand at the Town Park. The Parks and Recreation Department has been raising funds to fi nish off the concession stand before the summer, when several events are being planned for this area of the park. The main room of the concession stand is almost done, and plans were to try to add on two bathrooms at the end of the building so they could get rid of the port-a-cans that are currently being used. The temporary port-a-cans have been great to have at this end of the park, but are inconvenient for some elderly people and youngsters who have trouble getting in and out. The new bathrooms will be a great addition to the concession stand and can be used by everyone. The board of the thrift store decided that this was one thing that would be to everyone's benefi t, and with all the activities in the park it is something that is badly needed. There will be two bathrooms, one for males and one for females. The thrift store voted to donate $1000 toward completing this project, and hopefully it will be done before the summer activities like the 4th of July. The Quartzsite Community Thrift Store is totally run by volunteers, and its mission is to help other groups and service organizations who have limited funds to help others in Quartzsite. Since they opened last March, they have donated over $4,000 back to the community through the sales of items in the store. Donations of items for sale are always welcome, and can be brought dur- ing their business hours--now on summer hours Thursday, Friday and Satur- days from 9 am to 1 p.m. If you cannot bring things during this time, or need things picked up, please call Jini Dill at 927-6039 to make other arrangements. The thrift store will be able to give out more funds as they become avail- able, and thanks everyone for their donations and for shopping in the store to further their goals. Thanks also to all the volunteers who help make this such a big success!!
