L O C A L CH U R C H E S E V E N T S A N D AN N O U N C E M E N T S E V E N T S A N D AN N O U N C E M E N T S Kings Mountain Historical Museum's 12th Annual Re- verse Raffl e & Auctions took place last Saturday, Sept. 12th, and Museum Board Members and Staff are proud of the success of the event. Fundraising Chair Priscilla Mauney said, "We received many compli- ments on the event in general; every- one seemed to have a great time. As always, Susan Patterson's décor and Keith Falls' catering were a big hit. Peo- ple really enjoyed the new event layout, with the buffet line in a separate room to alleviate congestion, which was made possible because of very recent renovations to the Patrick Senior Cen- ter." Museum Director Adria Focht add- ed, "The Museum owes special thanks to the City of Kings Mountain, Mayor Rick Murphrey, City Manager Marilyn Sellers, and Director of Aging Monty Thornburg for all of their assistance, in- cluding having the newly ren- ovated facility fully prepared for our event. We are also grateful for each of our event sponsors and in-kind donors for their generous contribu- tions, and for the people who purchased tickets and auc- tion items. It was a sold-out event at 300 tickets, and we were able to give away over 60 high-quality raffl e prizes, including two vacation pack- ages and the Grand Prize of $10,000, which went to fi rst-time ticket buyers Jeff & Wendy Walega. Most im- portantly, the Museum will have the op- erating funds to offer free educational exhibits and events for our community in the coming year." The Museum's Fundraiser Commit- tee has already begun planning for the 13th Annual Reverse Raffl e & Auc- tions, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 10, 2016. Tickets will go on sale in June. Submitted by Adria L.
