Page 42 EVER LOST YOUR CAR KEYS? By Betty Crenshaw It's no fun when you lose your car keys, its not cheap. It's not like the old times when a locksmith could just get a key code off the glove box lock or the door locks, or make a key by filing a key. Now with all the security measures that are being used to protect the cus- tomers from easy access to car keys this process is becoming more diffi- cult. Now we need diagnostic equip- ment to program keys into cars, carry full line of Chipped keys, have access to key code sources and we need to see certificates of ownership. Also have working knowledge of the vehicle car locks in case the removal of the lock and decode the cuts if necessary to make a key where the code is not avail- able. All of this can become very cost- ly. Not only for the Locksmith, but for the customers as well, other option is to tow car to dealer and that in it self is costly and time consuming. 20% OFF* 20% OFF* www.DesertMessenger.com You may think you don't need a spare working key, but the cost of a duplicate key is much less than having an origi- nal made. The prices vary from car to car and dealer to locksmith. Always plan ahead get key code information when you purchase a new car. And have more than two working keys- never less than two. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organizations or institutions; does not wish to engage in controversy; neither endorses or opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety. Reprinted with permission of the AA Grapevine, Inc. January 4, 2012 COPPER FROM PAGE 37 stones like turquoise, chrysacolla, azurite, and malachite which are sec- ondary minerals that form in copper ore bodies. There are two great day trips that can be taken from Quartzsite to copper mining areas. One is to Planet Ranch and the other is to the ghost town of Swansea. The Planet Ranch area has over 100 copper mines. The area is rich in Chrysacolla, and in several areas the chrysacolla deposits are on the surface, creating beautiful swirls of color in the red/brown ryholite. We found nice malachite and azur- ite specimens as well when we were there. Planet Ranch itself has recently been purchased by Freeport McMoran and is no longer open to the public, but there are several mines located on public land outside Planet Ranch boundaries that are accessible. Swansea is the site of a former mining town. This ghost town boasts the re- mains of a railroad depot, a smelter, sev- eral mine shafts, two cemeteries, some restored miner's quarters, many stone foundations, and interesting tailings piles. Swansea is open to the public. For directions and information about Planet Ranch and Swansea, visit Rocks In My Head at Space A37 in Rice Ranch, 605-376-8754, www.RocksIn- MyHead.biz. We also have a great se- lection of Chrysacolla in Rhyolite from Planet Ranch, azurite and chrysacolla silicate cabochons, turquoise, and re- ally cool copper nuggets. Everything Must Go!
