Wallace Jr. High helps Operation Hero Comfort Operation Hero Comfort recent- ly held a root beer float party for two of the 8th grade classes at Wal- lace Jr. High School in Parker. The student council this past fall decid- ed to help Operation Hero Comfort raise some money for postage, and also to collect items to send to the adopted troop units who are cur- rently in Iraq and Afghanistan. The students from each grade classroom collected pennies for postage, and also lots of things that the troops requested like razors, shaving cream, socks, toothbrush- es, toothpaste, and other toiletries as well as a few small toys. The total collected for postage was $147.00 and there were several boxes of items including magazines and letters written by the students. All these items were sent in the last packages that went out last week. The two classes of 8th grad- ers won the root beer float party because they raised the most and tied for first place. This was a great thing all the students did for the troops, and Operation Hero Com- fort would like to thank the stu- dents and staff of the school for all their support. They are hoping to get other schools involved as well, and keep up the support for these brave men and women who are so far from home and really appreciate everything they get sent to them, especially cards and letters.
