Page 8 worksession to discuss Animal Control in Quartzsite - Sept. 23 Council to hold Garden Club update Friday, September 23rd, at 10am, the Quartzsite Town Council is having a worksession discussion regarding Chapter 6, Animals, of the Town Code, and regarding fu- ture handling of animal control and strays within the town. With the closing of Paw Power's Animal Shelter, concerns have been raised on animal issues. This discussion only meeting is open for public comments. The Quartzsite Garden Club meets the 3rd Monday of each month at 4:15pm at the Quartzsite Public Li- brary Meeting Room, 465 N. Plym- outh Rd. There is a short business meeting, a program and delicious homemade refreshments. The Gar- den Club is involved in our com- munity! We support the University of Arizona's "La Paz County Master Gardening Program. www.DesertMessenger.com October 5, 2011 ASSESSOR'S CORNER Greetings from the Assessor's office, this week we want to talk about the appeal process in Step 2 this is where the taxpayer has already filled an appeal with the Assessor's office and has already received a decision in response to their appeal from the Assessor's office. Quartzsite Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition Logo Design Contest! (QSAPC) We looking for a new logo! You can help! LOGO CONTEST RULES • Submissions must be inspired by and contain the title "Quartzsite Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition" (may also include: "QSAPC") • Artists may submit multiple designs, but they must be submitted as separate entries • Each entry must have artist's full name, date of birth, home address, phone number and/or an email address on the back of entry. • Contestants may be of any age and artistic ability, multiple people are allowed to design and submit one logo together • Winner of the contest must be able and willing to make changes to the design, as directed by the Quartzsite Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition • Submissions should contain no more than four (4) colors and be your original work using no stock clip art images • By submitting a design you are guaranteeing that you hold rights to everything in it, and that it does not contain any copyrighted material • Submissions must be hand-drawn and colored on an 8x11 sheet of paper • Submissions must be into the Quartzsite Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition by end-of-day Friday, October 14th. Drop off entries at Town Hall. NEW LOGO SELECTION • 3-5 finalists will be selected by the Quartzsite Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition vote, based on creativity, aesthetic and practical application • One design winner will be selected by popular vote on Saturday, October 22nd at the Red Ribbon Week kickoff event • Not only will the winning design be seen ALL OVER TOWN… on posters, on t-shirts, on the web, on banners, etc. but the design winner will receive a FREE iPod Shuffle prize! SUBMISSION AGREEMENT: The Quartzsite Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition (QSAPC) reserves the right to make any adjustments deemed necessary to the winning design and will have all rights to the winning design. By submitting an entry, you agree that if your design wins, it can be used by the QSAPC on all event, educational, and PSA promotional materials, including the t-shirts. By submitting and entering the contest, you are agreeing to all contest rules and are attesting to the originality of your design. The Entrant agrees to assign all rights, title and interest into the submission, including copyright, to the QSAPC and waives his/her legal rights in the submission. By submitting a design and accepting the contest prize, the winning Entrant permits the QSAPC to make public and otherwise use the winner's name, biographical information, city of residence, and submitted work without further compensation in any media now known or hereafter developed for promotional and/or publicity purposes, unless prohibited by law. design by Friday, October 14th for consideration! In continuing with the appeal pro- cess, remember that all taxes must not be delinquent to continue the appeal process. You may appeal to the Tax Court within 60 days of the administrative decision. If you file an appeal with the Tax Court, the administrative appeal process ends pending a determination by the court. If you have not started the ad- ministrative appeals process, you may still appeal directly to the Tax Court on or before December 15th of the valuation year. A friendly reminder that the tax bills for 2012 will be coming to you in late September early October. If you don't receive your tax bill by the second week of October, you may need to contact the Treasures Of- fice at (928) 669-6145. Possibly you could have had a change of mailing address after, the cutoff date for the printing of the tax bills.
