October 5 2011 Quartzsite Love's "loves" Children's Miracle Network Each fall, Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores employees will be putting their hearts into raising funds for 89 Children's Miracle Network Hospitals by asking cus- tomers to purchase $1, $5 or $20 paper hearts. From now through Sept. 30th, customers can donate. Sat. Sept. 24th there is a car wash beginning at 9am at Love's in Quartzsite, at Exit 17. Love's raises additional funds by holding bake sales, pumping gas for tips, conducting in-store drawings and coordinating other fundraising events. In 2010, Love's raised $1 million at more than 265 locations. Love's Travel Stops and Country Stores is a family owned and oper- ated chain of food and fuel stops. They take special pride in their lo- cations and their employees. Their motto is "Clean Places, Friendly Places." They believe that giving back to each community in which they op- erate is an important factor to their success. One of those ways they give back to their communities is to partner with Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Since beginning its affiliation with Children's Mira- cle Network in 1998, Love's and its customers have raised more than $4 million to help sick children in the communities where it operates stores. Local funds raised will sup- port Phoenix Children's Hospital. The 2nd Annual Quartzsite Country Bash, a fundraiser for Quartzsite Rotary, will take place at Town Park from 2pm- 10pm. This family friendly event will showcase Harry Luge, a well-known performer from the "Country Thun- der" Festival circuit from the South- west to Midwest. Harry Luge is the ever-consummate singer/songwriter with deep and proud roots in the Arizona desert. He's experienced beyond his 33 years and his non-stop creative personality translates to high energy live perfor- mances on some of the largest stages in the Country Music industry. "Harry's music is most relevant when one hears a simplicity that transcends the transient, reaches across political lines and reaches deep inside each lis- tener with stories relating to family, sense of place, personal growth and everyday life. As a result, Harry's pop- ularity is a well developed institution throughout Arizona." In addition there will also be a rodeo featuring the bulls of the Broken Slash P Rodeo Company. Broken Slash P was founded in 1999 by Jesse Pettigrew, who was the 2000 Turquoise Circuit Rookie of the Year in steer wrestling as well as yearend Pickup Man for the Grand Canyon Pro Rodeo Finals. Jesse was also part of the founding Board of Directors for the Arizona Youth Bull Riding Association and still serves on the board, in addition to being the Stock Director. To kick the event of in style, there will be a pre-party Friday, October 14th featuring live music for all ticket holders. Gates open at 7pm on Friday. Quartzsite Country Bash is a fund- raiser for the Rotary Club of Quartz- site.
