October 5, 2011 Hello Neighbors, Sep. 11, 2011 Memorial Tribute at the Town Park Pavilion in memory of the 9/11/01 tragedy where so many inno- cent people lost their lives, to honor them and their families. We can use this year's memorial to promote healing nationwide, starting right here in Quartzsite, to treat each other with respect and dignity, rec- ognizing we do have rights-the right to be free from fear of being bullied, of being threatened with bodily harm or your business being boycotted be- cause you disagree with someone. Promote each other's business and Quartzsite. Shop local, and be proud of your Town. If you were not at the football field for the free movie last Sat. night you missed a real winner! Once again it was great to see the youngsters enjoying the water slide. We enjoyed stargazing too. Hopefully there will be another free movie night in Oct. Don't miss it. Enjoying the cooler weather? So get creative and have fun! www.DesertMessenger.com Desert Challenge Oct. 15 Best in the Desert Racing Associa- tion announces that the BlueWater Desert Challenge is on its way to the Parker Area again this year. The two-day race begins with the time trials on Thursday, October 13. Thursday night, General Tire will host a party in "The Dig" Lounge at BlueWater Resort & Casino. On Friday, October 14, Contingency will be held at the BlueWater Re- sort & Casino. Racing will be on Saturday and Sunday, October 15 & 16. Awards will be presented Sunday evening. This is a very exciting and fun two- day event. The course is loaded with unusual signage pointing out the unique features of this race. "The Matterhorn", "The John Wayne Gorge", "The Haunted House" and "Devils' Drop" are just some of the landmarks of this very cool race. Casey Folks says, "This sport is on an incline. That's unbelievable for a total disposable-income sport in this economy." That's probably because Casey puts on the best rac- ing events in the world and has the highest safety standards in the in- dustry. The mandatory stop before the pit and a 25 MPH speed limit through the pit will be strictly en- forced. One popular spectator area will be the "P mountain" side of Shea Road. There will be no parking on the "Town" side of Shea Road, just like last year. The entire area will again be well-signed for spectator and driver safety.
