P��� 4 Take a Stand It’s Time For The Good People Of Quartzsite To Take A Stand Against The Citizen’s Coalition BULLIES These activists are doing their best to discredit and humiliate our town, our government, officials and police depart- ment, in any way they can. In watching videos of Town Council Meetings, it is amazing to see the difference in the behavior of the two sides. Many good Quartzsite people, who want Quartzsite to grow and prosper, just don’t want to get involved in poli- tics. I’ve never been political and I don’t want to get involved either, but we have no choice. WE NEED TO WAKE UP AND JOIN TOGETHER! If we don’t get involved, these activists are going to destroy our town. Many people here feel there is a well financed, well planned and cleverly or- chestrated conspiracy in Quartzsite to discredit and embarrass town officials and police and try to disincorporate Quartzsite for personal, political and financial gain to the planners. It’s my belief the Citizen’s Coalition won’t be satisfied until there are NO rules, NO government and NO police here. The stores are sur- rounded by huge barbed-wire fencing (like a prison) which doesn’t help. Many citizens carry visible firearms. Is that what we want for Quartzsite? Government rules make Quartzsite a safe and enjoyable place to live. Rules without enforcement are worthless. If you vote for the hostile, that the hostile follow, then expect hostilities, in which there is no peace, nor wisdom nor solutions. Reconciliation, restoration, and well being, is not with the hostile, it is truly with the wise. David Martin Quartzsite Lonesome in Seattle You don’t know what lonesome is, until Quartzsite is miles away. Seattle is an interesting town if you’re not used to something different. It is mainly made up of younger individu- als, each marching to their personal agenda. Although there are those who still raise chickens in their yards and grow curbside gardens. Occasionally someone may be polite. Seattle has mandatory recycling, that’s going green, right? Well now you can’t dump everything into one truck, so there’s like three trucks come by to pick up the different cans. In order to entice people to ride public transpor- tation, Seattle de-synchronized traffic lights. Now traffic stops every block and backs up for a full block each time. The exhaust is exhausting to say the least. If you want to drive from Everett too Seattle during peak hours, you have to have left yesterday to get there today. A matter of thirty miles or so. At commute time the air is full of helicopters and traffic planes advising motorists as to whether they can get home for sure that day. A����� 3, 2011 Eating out is like combat and the prices are staggering. Progress is so unnerv- ing we can hardly wait to get back to the desert. Elmer F. London For all our Heroes, those who have had to suffer the “slings and arrows” of malcontents, liars, fools, and dissidents, people who have nothing, are nothing and do nothing honest or useful; their claim to fame is to scream and print vicious vindic- tive lies. So for our Chief of Police Jeff Gilbert, his wife, our wonderful council mem- bers, Jose, Barbara, Joe, Patricia, Bob & Jerry and their families; for Al Johnson, Alex Taft, Nora Yackley, and all the hon- est and valued officers who stood loyal to the Chief, this is for you: It’s comforting to know there are he- roes amongst us. Regular folks like all of you, willing to do all that you can to make our town a better place to live. Heroes like you give, instead of take, act instead of talk, step up and do the difficult and unseen jobs. Jobs where there are no big “thank you”, no pats on the back, only the satisfaction of a job well done. You all give the best you have to give, measuring your own success, not by wealth, fame, or comfort, but by the good you do, and the lives you touch along the way. That’s what heroes do, and all of you are those people. I’m sure you don’t think of yourselves that way, but that’s what you are and I just want to tell you how grateful we are, those of us who belong to Quartzsite, wishing to see it prosper in peace and decency with honest and intelligent people at the helm: We think of you that way and thank God for you. We are proud to call you the heroes of Quartzsite and to know you’re a part of our world. Jose Lizarraga: Captain with Quartz- site Fire Dept. & is a Paramedic. Has understanding of community because he’s lived here for years. Raising a fam- ily here. Involved in the community.
