A 3, 2011 Quartzsite’s Food Bank Angel Quartzsite Food Bank’s Carol Kelley, praised the generosity of Quartzsite residents, Sandee & Dennis Wall, who recently donated $2000 of non-per- ishable food items to the Food Bank. “We are so grateful for Sandy’s gen- erosity! Without their help, we would not have enough food for our people last month! But now it’s all gone! We need help!” This was not the fi rst time the Walls have been caught being generous. Last year, Desert Messenger was called to photograph a “deposit” made at Horizon Community Bank. The “de- posit” was a huge stack of food cases, dropped off by an anonymous “Food Bank Angel”. The Walls also donated to female students at Scholars’ Acad- emy for their self defense training this spring. “We need more people like Sandy and Dennis in our community!” said Kelley. Sandy Wall spends hours clipping cou- pons, searching for donations from grocery stores and shopping for deals around town, Blythe, and Yuma. Wall .DM. Food Bank needs help arrived at Sam’s Club with her cou- pons and went on the hunt for deals where she saved a bundle. Smart & Fi- nal’s manager gave her 50% discount off cases of cereal when he realized the food was being donated. Yuma’s Fry’s Food Store on 24th and 4th donates to the Yuma Food Bank. However the staff was so helpful and supportive, by opening up a check-stand just for the Wall’s. $261 was saved by shopping at Fry’s using their V.I.P. card, which ac- tually paid for the total amount of food purchased at Smart & Final. “I have never seen the type of service that I’ve seen at this particular Fry’s store,” Wall said. “I see people smiling and actually happy to come to work!” The store was recently rated number one Fry’s store in hospitality, respon- sibility, courtesy, and overall attitude Sandy Wall loves to share her passion for helping others, and wants readers to be aware of the huge need of our lo- cal food bank. “People just have to give one can here, and one can there, and before you know it there’s a big box of food!” Museum benefi ts from sweet treats Quartzsite Historical Society Volunteers with the Eatery’s owner, Michelle Lukkasson. Quartzsite, AZ- Wed. July 20th volunteers from Quartzsite Muse- um and Historical Soci- ety dished up sweets to customers at Main St. Eatery’s Desset Social.
