CUMBERLAND The Cumberland County Board of Elections reminds citizens of the deadlines for participating in the Nov. 4 general election. There have been changes regarding One-Stop Voting and registration during the early voting period due to new state laws. The deadline to register for the November election or to make changes to current registrations is Oct. 10. One-Stop Voting begins Oct. 23 and ends Nov. 1. A Cumberland County resident who is qualified to vote and is registered to vote in Cumberland County 25 days prior to the election may vote during the One-Stop Voting period. Voter registration is not conducted during the One-Stop Voting period. The Board of Elections is located at 227 Fountainhead Lane. Call 910-678-7733 for more information. co.cumberland.nc.us Voters Advised Of Elections Deadlines Youth Learn About Local Foods The Cumberland County Department of Public Health offers all vaccines for school readiness at the Immunization Clinic during regular clinic hours from 8 a.m.- 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Evening clinic hours are also available on Tuesdays until 6:30 p.m. The clinic is open on a walk-in basis. The Health Department reminds parents of the required immunizations deadlines for children entering kindergarten and sixth grade. The last day for students in traditional school to attend if they have not received the required shots is Sept. 24. For more information, call 910-433-3633. Health Department Offers Immunizations Citizens' Academy Sept. 16 - Oct. 28 Cumberland County is accepting applications for its upcoming Citizens' Academy running Sept. 16 - Oct. 28. The academy is free and held on Tuesdays from 6-9 p.m. at various county government locations. Citizens' Academy helps citizens gain a better understanding of what county government does and how the various departments play a vital role in the community. Participants must be residents of Cumberland County. Class size is limited, and academy slots are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Citizens are encouraged to apply promptly. In an effort to educate local youth on where food comes from, Cumberland County Cooperative Extension sponsored a "Farm to Kitchen" camp July 29- Aug. 1. Participants visited Bunce Brothers Farm, Inc. in Stedman, Carter's Blueberry Farm in Vander, and McCormick Farms in Spring Lake to see how local foods are grown and harvested.
