J 6, 2011 CACTUS SALE OCT. 1 Hi Jolly Cemetery Benefi t Cactus Sale Submitted by Dee Sheehan Want to get stuck on a Cactus come to the Quartzsite Bakery Parking Lot. We’ll have it fi lled with hundreds of potted pokey things. Don’t know all their names, but I bet there will be a bunch of you that will know every- thing. We will open this shindig up at six in the morning hot coffee-no do- nuts-yes, we have to wait a bit longer. The purpose for this gathering is to get some money out of your pockets be- fore the moths eat the bills up. It’s a community service. Everyone is need- ing a potted cactus, right? At this point I don’t know the cost, someone will know, but I’ll be here all day waiting for you to show up and I planned to stay a vigil until six o’clock or the sun goes down whichever comes fi rst. Oh yeah, October 1st, 2011 is the date! Yes, every penny that is made will go to improvements for the Hi Jolly Cemetery. The need is great; for improving the Veterans area where we hold Memorial Day, Labor Day, Vet- eran’s Day Services and this year the Spirit Walk through the Cemetery will happen the end of October. So you and your family come visit with the people who have gone on before, and the No named Men and Women Unknown people who were lost and fell in the desert to be found and were brought to Hi Jolly Cemetery. Buck Connors and his family (Mo- tion Picture Star) loved by our town and also there are the Very Impor- tant Pioneers who founded this town. Some of their belongings are hanging at our museum next to Silly Al’s right on Main Street close to Tyson Wash where 99% of the time it a “Big Dry .DM. Rut” running smack in the middle of town. I do ramble don’t I? The point is: Cactus Sale is on Satur- day, October 1, 2011. Coffee for Early Birds. The cactus prices are starting at one dollar each and up. We are hoping for good donations too, we will have Donation Certifi cates on request. You can tell your friends you were a part of fi xing up of one of the greatest cem- eteries! It has the National recogni- tion and a new Bronze Plaque that has been awarded to “Hi Jolly” this year. The plaque should be in place in front of the “Hi Jolly Monument” done by our tireless working crew from our Town who have already put in water lines and planted trees and moved Buck Connors into a good spot in Hi Jolly Cemetery. Our town employees, the men and women who are out early mornings taking care of the ball diamond, clean- ing our streets you name it mucho. So love to you all; someone has to have a pay check. Our Town Police are out there watching over our town all night long, tooth picks in their eyelids to keep awake. They keep us safe and happy. God Bless them. I do ramble on so remember the Cactus Sale, Saturday, October 1st, at the Quartzsite Bakery Parking Lot in front! Thanks to Bruce, Denise, Kay, Ralph, Sandy, and all the members of the Hi Jolly Cemetery Board, they are Wonderful Folks. Las Vegas is not the same as yesteryear. It takes technical skill to play a penny machine. You hear no coins clinking and it will double your bet, while you are trying to figure your next move. I won $3.75... it cost me a buck. Margaret is smarter than me. She doesn’t gamble. Provided by Elmer London & Desert Messenger P 17
