Needtobreathe — back and better than ever! Needtobreathe, made up of brothers Bear and Bo Rinehart and Seth Bolt, were experiencing much commercial success a few years ago but something wasn't right. They decided to spend time apart to consider what the band needed to do, or if they would continue to be a band at all. After several months had passed the guys came together and realized their focus had shifted far from where it was when they started and they decided to right the ship. This has resulted in Needtobreathe having a renewed passion and purpose in everything they are doing. Their new cd "Rivers In The Wasteland", which releases April 15th, exemplifies this shift in priorities. At a recent concert at Campbell University it was obvious this group of talented musicians are beyond grateful to be back doing what they love, for all the right reasons. It is a walk you won't want to miss Thousands of Christians came together two years ago for the God In My City prayer walk. It is happening again - 'As 1 The Prayer Walk' is taking place this Saturday! Scores of churches throughout Cumberland County are supporting the prayer walk with the expectation that through it God will bring greater unity among the Body of Christ. During the walk thousands of Christians will join together to pray for the many needs of our communities reminding us of the power of prayer and the power of unity. If you are ready to go beyond complaining about how bad things are and want to start doing something about it, here is your opportunity. The prayer walk begins in downtown Fayetteville at Festival Park Saturday morning, April 12. The park opens at 8:30 a.m., the line up starts at 9:30 a.m. and the walk will begin at 10 a.m. As a visible display of unity, everyone is encouraged to wear the event T-shirt. For more information on the walk visit www.godinfayetteville.org. The Katinas honor their sister at her passing Losing a loved one is tough, but it is made easier when you know you will see them again. After battling cancer for just a few months Eua Katina White, the eldest sister of the guys in the Katinas, went calmly into the arms of Jesus. Here is a portion of the tribute they posted on their facebook page: " When we first heard of her illness this past February, we hoped that she would seek treatment and fight this ugly disease. But her immediate response to us was, 'I'm ready to go. I'm strong, and I'm ready to go'. Eua, is the loving sister that focused more on her responsibilities and sacrificed so readily, her privileges. She showed us that you don't have to have a mic or play an instrument to make an impact. You don't even need a stage. The stage is wherever you are and the message is your life. So we celebrate you, EUA! We'll continue to worship Jesus, sing songs, preach sermons, love our families and look out for one another just like you taught us to. It's ironic, how you were always in the background, never in the limelight. But today, you're front and center! The audience is Jesus. And we're certain that He's pleased with the song and message of your life. Well done Sister! You're strong. You've been ready. Now, you're HOME!" Spring is sprung and it is also a beautiful time to be outdoors! There are a lot of options to entertain the little ones downtown and get some sunshine in the process. Here are a few ideas: • Bring your children and their friends for a guided tour through the historic district. The Fayetteville Area Transportation and Local History Museum offers guided tours for schools, home school groups, scouts, churches, civic groups, military units, and more. Tours are free and can be adapted to suit the needs of a wide range of ages and educational objectives. This is a great way to get outside and learn at the same time! Call 910-433-1457 for more information. • It is a beautiful time for a picnic so grab a boxed lunch at Blue Moon Café, Huske Hardware, Rude Awakening Coffee House, Beef O Brady's, Marquis Market or a slice at Pierro's Express among others to satisfy your taste buds on a blanket at Cross Creek Park, Linear Park or even Festival Park next to the creek. Maybe some sweets at The Sweet Surprise Candy Buffet? • Hire a photographer and get your family photos taken in some of the most breathtaking scenery in Fayetteville. Backdrops of landscaped parks, historic buildings and more make for fabulous family portraits that will last a lifetime. Is a little rain hampering plans? No worries. April showers are common, but cannot stop the fun because indoor activities abound as well! Try a day at Fascinate-U Children's Museum, which offers hours of fun with role-playing and hands on activities. Your little ones can play dress up, go to the grocery store or even give a weather report at a pretend TV station. The Climbing Place at 436 W. Russell Street is also a great place to get out some energy with rock climbing for most ages. And for the skaters, try the Double Decker Skatepark at 500 Blount Street, one of the largest indoor skateparks around. For your budding crafters, try their little hands at jewelry making at Twisted Jewelers at 311 Hay Street or painting pottery at Greg's Art, Pottery and Gifts at 122 Maxwell Street. And, of course, for the adults who are looking to escape the rain, the Wine Café is a great place to discover new wines and cheeses and shopping options are plentiful and Wine and Design is a great place to paint while have a glass of wine with friends. There is plenty to do this spring downtown that is for sure!
