PHOENIX - - The Internal Revenue Service is looking to return $164.6 million in undelivered refund checks. A total of 111,893 taxpayers are due one or more refund checks that could not be delivered because of mailing address errors. Here in Arizona, the IRS has $4,722,912 ‘on-the-books’ for 3,194 Arizonans. The average undelivered refund amount is $1,479. This infor- mation is based on data prepared on Nov. 16. “We want to make sure taxpayers get the money owed to them,” said IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman. “If you think you are missing a refund, the sooner you update your address infor- mation, the quicker you can get your money.” A taxpayer only needs to update his IRS as undelivered, taxpayers can gen- erally update their addresses with the “Where’s My Refund?” tool on IRS. gov. The tool also enables taxpayers to check the status of their refunds. A taxpayer must submit his or her So- cial Security number, filing status and amount of refund shown on their 2009 return. The tool will provide the status of their refund and, in some cases, in- structions on how to resolve delivery problems. Taxpayers checking on a refund over Tax Credit. The best way for an individual to verify if she or he has a pending refund is going directly to IRS.gov and using the “Where’s My Refund?” tool. Commuters can expect the following: • One westbound and one eastbound lane will be closed between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday to allow crews to access the roadway safely. • The speed limit through the work zone will be reduced to 45 mph. • Drivers can expect delays of up to 15 minutes. • Loads wider than 14 feet will be al- lowed to travel through the area on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, when paving operations are not taking place. Message boards will be displayed to inform commuters of construction. Law enforcement officers will be pres- ent along the work zone to control traffic and monitor speeds. Travel delays on I-10 near county line ADOT will fill cracks and apply mate- rial to protect the roadway on I-10 near Harquahala Valley Road. Over time, varying temperatures, along with traf- fic, have worn down the roadway sur- face, creating small cracks. This project will seal the highway surface, prevent- ing water from seeping into the cracks and damaging the base layer of pave- ment. Performing preventative main- tenance is a cost-effective method for extending the life of the roadway.
