September 4, 2013 Quartzsite Council seeks to fill vacant position The Town Council of Quartzsite is soliciting applications with attached resumes from the Public for consideration for appointment to a vacant Town Council position. A vacancy for a Town Council position occured when Council Member Patricia Workman resigned last month due to health issues. The Council approved the acceptance of applications of potential candidates and may conduct interviews of eligible applicants for appointment to said vacant Council position. Qualifications for Council appointment are found in Arizona Revised Statutes, A.R.S. §9-232(A), which states in pertinent part the following: "A. A person shall not be a member of a city or town council unless, at the time of the election [appointment], the person is eighteen years old, is a qualified elector residing within the city or town at the time of the election [appointment], and has resided in the city or town for one year next preceding the election [appointment], . . .". All applications with attached resumes shall be submitted to the Quartzsite Town Clerk, Terry Frausto, for consideration by the Town Council. Applications will be accepted by the Town Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 11, 2013. The Quartzsite Town Council will be provided with all qualified applications submitted for review and may determine whom they wish to interview for the Council appointment. This interview process would be conducted in an open meeting.
