September 4, 2013 11 www.DesertMessenger.com Parker agency helps Quartzsite Business Chamber By Joanne Winer The La Paz County Industrial Development Agency in Parker contacted the Quartzsite Business Chamber of Commerce last month and told President Cee Carnevale that their agency had some funds that were to be disbursed throughout the county and that some of them were going to be given to the Quartzsite Business Chamber. Two weeks ago, Randy Hartless, President of the La Paz County Industrial Development Agency, contacted the Business Chamber again and they were told to expect $4,000 from this agency, so several board members from the Business Chamber drove to Parker to meet with Randy Hartless and receive the check. The La Paz County Industrial Development Agency is a non-profit agency that serves as a conduit for the sale of bonds for many projects that benefit La Paz County, with some funds being given back to them for facilitating the sale of the bonds. The funds to the Business Chamber were a part of the monies this group has disbursed back into the community, with the criteria being that it goes to non-profits like chambers who work for the economic development of their areas. Quartzsite Business Chamber President Cee Carnevale stated, "This has been a wonderful surprise for our Business Chamber, especially since the economy has been so bad and other funding has been cut all over the place. These funds will be used to help pay for printing flyers, mailing out vendor and visitor packages, and other expenses that the chamber has to keep its doors open. We thank this Agency and its board members for this gift and plan to use it wisely and well to help promote our town and the county." The La Paz County Industrial Development Board consists of President Randy Hartless, and board members Michael Penn, Dan Beaver, John Coutreau and Charlie Philpot.
