Mindfulness is a practice that involves being fully engaged in whatever is going on around you. Class starts at 6:30 p.m. sharp, so arrive a few minutes early, pick a pillow or mat and relax. SATURDAY, JANUARY 14 REPTICON FAYETTEVILLE CROWN COMPLEX 7 p.m. Lift Up The Arts Fayetteville is being hosted by Sistahs Under the Sun. They are bringing artistic magic to Poetry, Songs, Dance, Spoken word, Rap, Musical instruments and more. There will be a DJ on deck with smooth R&B plus Afro beats. Sistahs Under the Sun is a Divinely Unified collaborated group of three best friends striving to bring a more Cohesive, Holistic force of greatness to the local area. So come on out and support the local artistic community! 3:30 p.m. – 5 p.m. 2023 is the Year of the Rabbit! Celebrate the Lunar New Year with the Cumberland County Public Library. Youth Service Li- brarian Aaron Mehaffey will be reading a Chinese Zodiac story and kids can make their own Lucky Chinese Lantern craft. This is perfect for kids K-5. STARTING A SMALL BUSINESS 1073 MURCHISON ROAD 6 p.m. ABCs of Starting a Small Business on a Limited Budget is easier now than it has ever been. In these challenging times everyone from the government to your local banker is trying to help you succeed. This workshop includes the legal basics, tips for low-cost marketing, funding suggestions, and how to help. These are the ABCs of how to start a small business combined with winning strategies from low-cost startups. Do you wish there was some way to pursue art full-time as a career? Do you identify as Black, Indigenous, or a person of color, or identify as an active ally to any of those groups? If you answered 'yes' to any of the questions above, then this series of workshops is for you! Join the Ellington-White Communi- ty Development Corporation for a two-hour class focused on a different aspect of art entrepreneurship. Taught by creatives themselves, this class will walk through a business framework created by Springboard for the Arts. You'll have the oppor- tunity to meet and network with fellow local creatives.
