december 18-24, 2022 What's up! 47 try these recipes Making spirits bright Bottle up these giftable homemade liqueurs Homemade Irish Cream Ingredients • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk • 1 2/3 cups Irish whiskey • 1 cup heavy cream • 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup • 1 teaspoon instant coffee granules • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract • 1 teaspoon almond extract Directions 1. Combine sweetened condensed milk, Irish whiskey, heavy cream, chocolate syrup, coffee granules, vanilla, and almond extract in a blender. Blend on high speed until incorporated, 20 to 30 seconds. 2. Store in a tightly sealed container in the refrigerator up to 2 months. Shake well before serving. Amaretto Ingredients • 1 cup water • 1 cup white sugar • ½ cup brown sugar • 2 cups vodka • 2 tablespoons almond extract • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Directions 1. Combine water and sugars in a saucepan over medium heat. Heat until the mixture is boiling, and all of the sugar is dissolved. Remove the pan from the heat and let the mixture cool for 10 minutes. 2. Stir vodka, almond extract and vanilla extract into the mixture. Store in a sealed bottle. Homemade Cranberry Liqueur Ingredients • 2 (12 ounce) packages fresh cranberries • 2 ½ cups vodka • 2 ½ cups simple syrup • ¾ lemon, peeled • ¾ orange, peeled • 1 cinnamon stick • 1/8 teaspoon ground allspice Directions 1. Pulse cranberries in a food processor just until roughly chopped; transfer to a clean glass container. 2. Add vodka, simple syrup, lemon peel, orange peel, cinnamon stick, and allspice to cranberries; stir until well mixed. 3. Seal container with a lid and store in a cool dark area, 3 to 5 days, stirring several times a day. 4. Strain through a fine mesh strainer into a glass bottle and refrigerate. Will last up to 2 months. Grandma's Apple Pie 'Ala Mode' Moonshine Ingredients • ½ gallon apple cider • ½ gallon apple juice • 1 cup white sugar • 1 cup brown sugar • 4 cinnamon sticks • 1 whole clove • 3 cups 190 proof grain alcohol • 2 cups vanilla vodka Directions 1. Place apple cider, apple juice, white sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, and whole clove in a large pot over high heat. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely. 2. Stir grain alcohol and vanilla vodka into the cooled mixture. Pour into clean bottles or jars; store in the refrigerator. Courtesy allrecipes.com
