42 UCW OCTOBER 12 - 18, 2022 WWW.UPANDCOMINGWEEKLY.COM Berean Baptist Church Bazaar helps local nonprofit by KATRINA WILSON Berean Baptist Church will provide donations to Operation Blessing from the proceeds of its holiday bazaar scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 15. e bazaar was established in 2019. Due to COVID-19, the Bazaar didn't occur in 2020. But last year they got back into the swing of things. Natanya King, a bazaar planning committee member, said the annual event is an opportunity for the church to give back to the community. it is also an opportunity for the commu- nity and small business owners to display their talents. "We provide a venue for members of our church and members of the community to showcase their talents and the things that they are selling and provide small business owners a way to get there wares out to the public," King said. How it works Over 35 vendors will be in atten- dance at the event selling everything from baskets, candles and ornaments to locally produced honey, jams and jellies. Other type of vendors include merchants with children's clothing and several multi-level marketing vendors. ese vendors pay a flat rate booth rental fee. e funds from that go to nonprofit Operation Blessing. A good cause Operation Blessing is a 501(c)3 that provides short-term assistance with food, clothes, limited approved finan- cial assistance and crisis pregnancy support to those in Cumberland County and surrounding areas. Other funding that goes to the or- ganization will come from a bake and lunch sale that day. According to King, due to the holi- day bazaar, Berean Baptist has raised over $4,000 for Operation Blessing. King added that this is a great oppor- tunity for moms and dads to Christ- mas shop for friends and family. Christmas Photographer A photographer will be on site during the bazaar to take Christmas photos. Cash or card can be used to pay for the pho- tos day-of. Photo costs start at $15. Photo prints will be available in the church office in about two weeks.
