THE BEST OF BRANSON SILVER DOLLAR CITY'S SOUTHERN GOSPEL PICNIC TO FEATURE DOVE AWARD WINNERS AND GRAMMY-NOMINATED ARTISTS The Ozark hills fill with joyful harmonies during Silver Dollar City's Southern Gospel Picnic, featuring the nation's most notable Southern Gospel groups throughout the day, plus nightly performances in Echo Hollow Amphitheater. Parkwide, stages radiate energy with sing-along, toe-tapping performances. Dove award winners and Grammy nominees alike gather for a spectacular showcase of Southern Gospel music – with uplifting sounds filling the stages from August 25- September 5. Prominent Gospel artists The Martins, Gold City and The Isaacs are a few of the many talented artists performing at Southern Gospel Nights, a nightly event held at the 4,000-seat Echo Hollow Amphitheatre. Grammy-nominated artist Ernie Haase & Signature Sound kicks off the first night of the eleven-night special, followed by America's Favorite Family, The Hoppers. All Southern Gospel Nights concerts begin at 6:00 pm; seating starts at 4:00 pm. This season, special Sunday worship services feature Dr. Dennis Swanberg, an encouraging speaker, humorist and comedian based out of Texas, and Mark Mathes of Crossway Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri. Worship services will be held on the morning of August 28 with Dr. Swanberg and September 3rd and 4th with Mark Mathes. The House of Chicken & Fixin's returns with savory picnic-style foods including an all-you-care-to-eat finger-lickin' feast featuring an array of gourmet cuisine. The Duttons BRANSON'S TRIBUTE TO MEL TILLIS — In honor of what would have been the country music legend's 90th birthday, Branson's Tribute to Mel Tillis will take place at 5 p.m. on Mon., Aug. 8 at the Copeland Theater located at The Shoppes at Branson Meadows. Concert performers will include Mel Tillis Jr., Clay Cooper, Doug Gabriel, Billy Yates, Brandon Mabe, The Sons, Splinter Middleton, CJ Newsom, Tammy Brandell Carter & Tonya Wainscott, Rick McEwen, Stevie Lee Woods, Logan Allen, Trey Dees, The Blackwoods and All Hands on Deck; all performing some of Tillis' greatest hits. In recognition of Tillis, who performed from the Branson stage with his world-famous band the Statesiders for decades, the city of Branson is proclaiming Aug. 8, as Mel Tillis Statesiders Day in Branson. 40 WHAT'S UP!
