July 31 - August 6, 2022 WHATS UP! T11 fore that. Did he give up act- ing? A: It's a bit early to suggest Billy Miller quit the biz — as far as we know, he's still part of "Truth Be Told's" sprawling ensemble. The drama series was re- newed for a third season by Ap- ple TV+, but long-suffering fans of the streaming channels know that they often take their time coming out with new seasons. "Truth Be Told" is, in fact, a good example: a year and a half passed between the end of its first season and the debut of its second. Its second-season fina- le only aired in October, so by that schedule, the show could remain absent until April 2023 before anyone could call it "late." That does still amount to an unaccustomed absence from the screen for Miller — espe- cially for those used to seeing him five days a week on the soaps (as Richie Novak in "All My Children," Billy Abbott in "The Young and the Restless" and, most recently, as Jason Morgan/Drew Cain in "Gener- al Hospital"). That said, he has shown some signs of becoming "rest- less" himself, squeezing in a quick guest spot in one episode of the ABC crime series "The Rookie" in November. That's the kind of moonlighting op- portunity that daytime star- dom, with its relentless shoot- ing schedule, just doesn't offer. Perhaps he'll do more of it and we won't have to wait a year and a half to see him on screen. Q: Was that a new Journey song in the fourth season of "Stranger Things"? A: Not exactly, but close. The fourth season of Netflix nostalgia-fest "Stranger Things" boosted its period cred by including a number of '80s pop songs on its soundtrack. Most notably, Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill" had a major chart resurgence thanks to its use in multiple ep- isodes. Another example is "Sepa- rate Ways" by Journey, which gives some emotional heft to the end of the penultimate epi- sode of the season. Die-hard Journey fans know this one was released in 1983 — but they also know it didn't sound like this. The "Stranger Things" ver- sion is a remix by Bryce Miller and Alloy Tracks with help from Journey singer Steve Per- ry himself. They sent the singer their first remix of the song and "I was stunned at how cool it was," Perry told Variety magazine. "One week later, I had an idea for an extended version, so I called Bryce and we assembled our extended remix." Perry said he's "a huge fan" of the show and was delighted to play a part in the new sea- son. Given all the good press and attention the show's soundtrack has gotten this sea- son, expect even more '80s classics (originals and remix- es) whenever the show's fifth and final season airs (no re- lease date has been announced yet). Advance Pest Control 2 x 2 TAKE 5 BY ADAM THOMLISON TV Media Q: Are they (whoever "they" are) still making new episodes of "Lip Sync Bat- tle"? A: There was never an offi- cial announcement, but it looks like the "they" behind "Lip Sync Battle" have moved on. The faces of the show were always rap legend L.L. Cool J and supermodel Chrissy Tei- gen, both of whom have gone on to other shows since it last aired in 2019 — two shows in Cool J's case (and both sound a lot like "Lip Sync Battle"). He recently signed on for CBS's "Superfan," which is also a celebrity-driven musical se- ries. It's not clear how much of a commitment he's made to this one — the premise centers on pairing popular artists with their self-described biggest fans and it seems like Cool J is just involved as an artist this time, rather than as the host. There's no word on a premiere date yet. He's also involved in another new reality competition show called "Come Dance With Me." This one's already on the air, but Cool J's not — he serves as creator and executive producer alongside his "NCIS: Los Ange- les" co-star Chris O'Donnell. This show teams professional dancers with untrained mem- bers of their own families to compete for a big prize. Teigen, meanwhile, has gone in the opposite direction, inch- ing closer to center stage in her show "Chrissy's Court." She stars (of course) on the Roku Channel series, adjudicating actual small claims cases. The show debuted in 2020 and was recently renewed for a third season. All this — plus the fact that it hasn't aired new episodes in more than three years — spells bad news for "Lip Sync Battle," but we always knew it wouldn't last forever. At some point, it gets hard to find new celebri- ties willing and able to do a lav- ish lip-sync performance on TV. Q: What ever happened to Billy Miller?
