June 26 - July 2, 2022 BY RAYE SMITH TV Media WHAT'S NEW ON HULU "Only Murders in the Building" - Season 2 Dig into a new case with the highly anticipated Season 2 re- lease of "Only Murders in the Building," making its way to Hulu Tuesday, June 28. Starring Selena Gomez ("A Rainy Day in New York," 2019), Steve Martin ("The Pink Panther," 2006) and Martin Short ("Innerspace," 1987) as Mabel, Charles and Ol- iver, an unlikely trio of amateur sleuths brought together in the first season by their mutual love of the same true crime podcast. When a murder hap- pened to take place in the high- end New York City building where they all live, the true crime aficionados took it upon themselves to create their very own podcast as they try to solve the murder themselves. While Season 1 ended on quite a cliffhanger (and another mur- der in the building), Season 2 kicks off with Mabel, Charles and Oliver trying to keep them- selves out of hot water as they look into their newest case. Created by Martin and John Hoffman of "Grace and Frankie", "Only Murders in the Building" Season 2 is directed by Jamie Babbit ("Silicon Val- ley") and Cherien Dabis ("Ramy"). The series is written by Hoffman, Martin, Joshua Al- len Griffith ("Mrs. America"), "The (curious case of the) Wat- son Intelligence" playwright Madeleine George, "Ohio" au- thor Stephen Markley and "The Field Guide to the North Amer- ican Teenager" author Ben Philippe. Vanessa Aspillaga ("Morning Glory," 2010), Kirk Kelly ("Do No Harm"), Ariel Shafir ("M'larky"), Cara Delev- ingne ("Suicide Squad," 2016), Michael Rapaport ("Atypical"), Jayne Houdyshell ("Little Women," 2019), Jackie Hoffman ("Garden State," 2004) and Mi- chael Cyril Creighton ("Dexter: New Blood") also star. WHAT'S NEW ON NETFLIX "Beauty" (2022) Come along for the ride with the new romantic drama film "Beauty," available Wednesday, June 29, on Netflix. From award-winning writer and pro- ducer Lena Waithe ("Twen- ties") and director Andrew Dosunmu ("Mother of George," 2013), this coming-of-age story follows a talented young singer named Beauty (Gracie Marie Bradley, "Pearl," 2020), who is on the brink of a successful ca- reer with her supportive and devoted girlfriend, Jasmine (Aleyse Shannon, "Leverage: Redemption"), by her side. It isn't long, however, until Beau- ty is met with the harsh reali- ties of pop stardom and she struggles to remain authentic to herself and to her art in the face of fame and fortune. The film's outstanding ensemble cast includes Niecy Nash ("Claws"), Giancarlo Esposito ("Breaking Bad"), Sharon Stone ("Casino," 1995), Kyle Bary ("Our Kind of People"), Mi- chael Ward ("Top Boy"), Sarah Stavrou ("White Men Can't Jump," 1992) and James Urba- niak ("American Splendor," 2003). WHAT'S NEW ON DISNEY+ "Baymax!" - Season 1 Everyone's favorite friendly in- flatable robot is back in the new computer-animated series "Baymax!," premiering on Dis- ney+ Wednesday, June 29. A se- quel series to the 2014 hit film "Big Hero 6," Baymax (voiced by Scott Adsit, "30 Rock") is working outside the superhero team to fulfill his program's purpose of helping others. As he takes on health-care jobs around the city of San Franso- kyo, Baymax ends up on a se- ries of adorable and hilarious adventures in an attempt to im- prove the lives of everyone he meets. Created and written by "Big Hero 6" director Don Hall, "Baymax!" is directed by Dan Abraham ("Once Upon a Snow- man," 2020), Mark Kennedy ("Zootopia," 2016), Lissa Trei- man ("Wreck-It Ralph," 2012) and Dean Wellins ("Raya and the Last Dragon," 2021). Ryan Potter ("Titans"), Maya Ru- dolph ("Saturday Night Live"), Emily Kuroda ("Gilmore Girls"), Lilimar ("Bella and the Bulldogs"), Zeno Robinson ("Pokémon") amd Jaboukie Young-White ("Fairfax") also voice star in the series. WHAT'S NEW ON PRIME "The Terminal List" - Season 1 Get to the bottom of a new mystery with Prime's newest action-thriller series "The Ter- minal List," premiering on the streamer Friday, July 1. Chris Pratt ("Guardians of the Gal- axy," 2014) leads the series as Cmdr. James Reece, a Navy SEAL who's just returned home after his entire platoon was am- bushed during a high-stakes co- vert mission. Determined to discover why his platoon was attacked, Reece's mission be- comes all the more urgent when he learns new dark forces are working against him and endangering his loved ones. Based on the novel of the same name by Jack Carr, "The Termi- nal List" is adapted for the screen by David DiGilio ("Strange Angel") and directed by Frederick E.O. Toye ("The Boys"), Sylvain White ("The Rookie"), M.J. Bassett ("Solo- mon Kane," 2009), Antoine Fuqua ("The Magnificent Sev- en," 2016), Tucker Gates ("Ray Donovan") and Ellen Kuras ("The Umbrella Academy"). The series cast is rounded out by Jared Shaw ("The Tomor- row War," 2021), Constance Wu ("Crazy Rich Asians," 2018), Taylor Kitsch ("Friday Night Lights"), Riley Keough ("Mad Max: Fury Road," 2015), Arlo Mertz ("Mank," 2020), Jeanne Tripplehorn ("The Gilded Age"), LaMonica Garrett ("1883"), Tyner Rushing ("Un- der the Banner of Heaven") and Nick Chinlund ("Training Day," 2001).
