M�� 5, 2010 New APS Incentive Help Businesses Cut Cooling Costs Prepare Your AC for the Long Hot Summer PHOENIX- APS non-residential cus- tomers have a new opportunity to cut cooling costs this summer. The APS Solutions for Business program is now offering a 75 percent rebate (up to $240 per AC system) for an Advanced Diag- nostic Tune Up. This service can im- prove the AC system performance and save up to 7 percent on cooling costs. Just like a car, a building’s air condi- tioning system works most effi ciently and reliably when regularly main- tained. Poorly-maintained equipment consumes more energy, costs more to operate and is prone to breakdown. The Advanced Diagnostic Tune Up can improve the system’s current operat- ing effi ciency and identify potential repairs before it breaks. A cooling system that is at least three years old and four tons or larger (pack- age or split) is a good candidate for this service, according to Wayne Dob- berpuhl, Program Manager. The APS Solutions for Business pro- gram offers rebates for a range of en- ergy effi ciency improvements from energy audits, lighting and refrigera- tion to demand response, HVAC and motors. APS has paid over $20 million in program incentives to more than 650 non-residential customers since the program started in 2006. These customers will save $345 million on their APS bills over the equipment’s lifetime. In addition, the installed measures will reduce greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to the annual emissions from 338,000 cars and save 1.15 billion gallons of water. The program is funded by APS cus- serving electricity utility, serves about 1.1 million customers in 11 of the state’s 15 counties.
