Oses '94 is a stellar repre- sentative of a loyal Florida Nu alumnus. Not only has he volunteered his time, but his gift to the Building Our Future, Securing Our Legacy campaign allows him to do two things: offer future members opportunities and pay the fraternity back for what he received. Fran's dedication to Sigma Phi Epsilon began as soon as he joined the fraternity. He wanted more out of his college experience than just a diploma, and Florida Nu provided both cir- cumstances to excel and brothers he regarded highly. "By and large, the members were trying to be the best group of men on and off cam- pus. They valued being a better cut of men than most." In addition to serving the Chapter as brotherhood relations chairman, vice president of recruitment, and president, Fran earned a de- gree in psychology. Through the Florida Nu network, Fran accept- ed positions in several entry-level jobs after graduation. However, he soon learned his skills were better suited for a career as a "relationship salesman. At a crossroads in my life, I went to my father-in-law who owned a construction company. He was a great business administra- tor, and I was the salesman he needed." His college degree has proven to be indispens- able within the industry. "I deal with a lot of different personalities every day. Understand- ing how people work, what makes sense to them, and how to correct behavior without insulting others is a big part of the job. Being able to nurture relationships is where I thrive." Fran's experience is a lesson to undergraduates. Through the fraternity and university, there are innumerable opportunities to get involved and "rule out what you do not want to do and get a grasp of what makes you happy." Even with a busy career, Fran dedicates time to SigEp. Since graduation, he has volunteered and didn't hesitate to join the AVC. He is im- pressed with the undergraduates and says they are committed and motivated. "It is encourag- ing to see a group of guys interested in con- tinuing to develop the Chapter." Fran is proud to help provide our outstanding Chapter mem- bers with an endowment and learning facility. "This was a resource we did not have (when I was an undergraduate), and I am happy to make something special and make a difference for Florida Nu." Encouraging alumni to engage with the Chap- ter, reconnect with brothers, and consider join- ing this vital campaign, Fran says, "It is not of- ten that the opportunity to make an impact at a fundamental level comes along. This is such an opportunity. Time is one asset that none of us have enough of. That's why I encourage you to make a financial commitment to this campaign. You can be part of the bedrock that future gen- erations will build on—a physical representa- tion of what we committed to some time ago." SigEp membership helped Fran focus on bet- tering himself in every aspect. The message of "would the boy you were be proud of the man you are" still resonates with him. "I am no saint, but I will tell you that when I get up every morning, I will try my best. SigEp made the difference." The standards SigEp instilled help him be a better parent to 13-year-old twins Matias and Maximo and 11-year-old Claudia, as well as a better husband to wife Gypsy. When he has spare time, Fran likes to go out on his boat. "I don't like to work on it or clean it, just be on it." Fran can be reached at osesf@biwiron.com.
