G reetings, SigEp brothers and fellow FIU Panthers. The other day while preparing for our AVC meeting, I reflected on the events that have occurred during my last three years as AVC president, both good and bad, and thought, our Florida Nu Chapter has truly shown courage, perseverance, commitment, and an ability to scope a direction that will solidify our future. We have done the difficult task of a membership review, ground-breaking establishment of a first-generation endowment account to support our undergraduate Chapter in perpetuity, strengthened the BMS program, initiated events, including the Red Door Classic, plus other things that solidified our fraternity and brotherhood. Beyond the FIU SigEp AVC, our brothers continue to take leadership positions at our alma mater. Several brothers serve on the National FIU Alumni Association board of directors; congrats to Sean Gazitua '04, who joined the board this year. We continue to achieve new heights, including an incredible capital campaign that will be a paradigm shift from traditional fraternity housing structures. A terrific event was held at the home of Tom Jelke '90 to describe our innovative, benchmark SigEp Learning Community (SigEp LC) project. Our fundraising committee was established and several meetings have been held to discuss the attainment of our fundraising goal. As I see this groundbreaking project take shape, I can't help but think how this SigEp LC project has been the paradigm shift I mentioned earlier for this Chapter. In the past, we (FIU SigEp FL NU) have measured ourselves against established successful chapters throughout the U.S. to help guide this young Chapter. However, this project has shifted the focus to us now. Other well-established and entrenched chapters are now looking at us as a benchmark for what can be. This makes it imperative that we succeed with the completion of this project. It not only reestablishes our Chapter in the forefront of Greek organizations at FIU, but it builds a founda- tion for many generations to come. Brothers, this can't be built without you. We truly need your support and hope that we can count on you to make this FIU SigEp Educational Learning Community a reality. Have a great year, and I hope to see you soon.
