Saturday, November 10, 2012 – Daily News Special to the DN Hiding in plain sight at 7881 Highway 99E in Los Molinos for about three decades is the town's small but treasured Public Library. The facility is one of three branches of the Tehama County Library. Recently the branch received interior improvements which patrons enthusiastically welcome. The space inside is more open both for children and adults, thanks to hard work by staff who cleared out many old volumes and rearranged shelving. Over the past several months, the walls were given a fresh coat of paint; tables and chairs were refin- ished; and the window sign has been redone. "The old saying about how 'good things come in small packages' is certain- ly true when it comes to our town's library," Bar- bara Whitten said. "We are not sure just how many people living in and around Los Molinos are fully aware of it, but tucked away here between Jack's Restaurant and the Family Health Center is a their libraries. "In fact, right here in Los Molinos' hidden treasure gets some attention Tehama County the towns of Manton, Gerber, Las Flores, Vina, Tehama, and Mineral had libraries at one time," Hart said. "Today, we see how those valuable public assets have long since disap- peared." "I especially wish to thank Sally Ainsworth, County Librarian, and Melissa Gryla, Research Librarian, for attending our meeting sponsored by the LM women's group last month," said Sue Gal- 5B lagher. "They will keep us informed about our ongo- ing library usage. We value their help and sup- port with determining exactly where we are and what we need to do in order to be sure our library will continue to serve the community of Los Molinos." The Los Molinos Branch of the Tehama County Library is open Monday 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Tuesday 3-6 p.m., and Thursday 3-6 p.m. Pease make a visit to this treasure.
