Tickets on sale now at Sky River Music or on line at Symphony Fall Concert The Shasta Youth Symphony's Fall Concert will be at 3:15 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18, in the Shasta College Theatre. Shasta College Youth As a feature of this season-changing "Whet Your Appetite" concert just before Thanksgiving, the Youth Symphony will be featuring works of Tschaikovsky with some members of the Redding Ballet, conducted by Ms. Cindy Michaels, as an interesting finale to a short concert. A work by Tschaikovsky opens the concert in the Courtesy photo last Movement of his Symphony No. 2, "The Little Russian Symphony, and concludes with the ballet, "Mother Ginger," a movement from the Nutcracker, which will serve as a "petite introduction" and interest whetter for the larger Nutcracker Ballet traditionally done at a later time in the Cascade Theatre. Other works in the concert will include Simple Gifts, an old Shaker Melody, arranged by Marsha Chusmir Shapiro, Romany Dances by Elliot del Borgo, and a String Work from Louisiana by Cathy Morris, entitled Bayou Self, a Cajun crowd pleaser. With a smaller orchestra this year, a new set of pieces is presented to amuse and train students and audience alike. Come join us for a short fun session. Film festival seeks entries The Active 20-30 Club of Redding is proud to announce that entries for the 5th Annual Sundial Film Festival are now being accepted online at www.sundi- alfilmfestival.com. Organizers are calling on individuals from all back- grounds and ages, especially Northern Californians, to submit short films and photos for the Festival. The SFF is being held on March 9, 2013 at the Cascade Theater in Redding. To be considered, all entries must be received by Jan. 3, 2013. Foundation, the SFF promotes guiding objectives to educate and foster film and photography production among people who hope to discover an interest or career using the medium. All entries will be judged for creativity, quality and originality by a diverse jury selected by the SFF orga- nizers, which will include: filmmakers, photographers, critics, educators, and interested others. Organized by the Active 20-30 Club of Redding The State Theatre for the Arts recognizes Rose Crain, son Dan Davidson, and granddaughters Samantha Davidson and Amanda Davidson for their support of the State Theatre capital campaign.This family has contributed a sizable amount to the campaign, qualifying them for naming rights for the theater stage, which shall now be known as the Haleakala Stage at the historic State Theatre. The group would also like to thank the entire community, which has now contributed a total of $375,000 toward the purchase of the theater since the start of the capital campaign in March 2011. Cascade Christmas showcases holiday spirit Public performances of A Cascade Christmas begin the day after Thanksgiving on Friday, November 23rd, with two performances at 2 and 7pm.
