4 Gamma Crescent A lpha Gamma Rho Gamma Chapter at Penn State has had a strong past few semesters number-wise. As of fall 2016, the chapter proudly stands with over 100 active members and boasted that close to half of the brotherhood lived in house, which was near capacity with 41 tenants. Our chapter likes to advertise how much cheaper our in-house dues/house bills are when compared to that of the dorms on campus as well as apartments available off campus. Each brother pays a mere $5,200 each semester to live in the house (includes a house meal plan), which is several hundred dollars cheaper than the average room and board/meal plan on campus at Penn State (approximately $5,500 per semester). With such a large chapter, some voiced concerns about there possibly being a lack of brotherhood, but that could not be further from the truth. The house is constantly buzzing with activity between brothers, in-house and out-of-house, and the house environment throughout the week is unbeatable. Whether it is volleyball outside or brotherhood work sessions in and around the house, Gamma Chapter is always doing things together. Brothers are content with how our chapter has grown and progressed, and we could not be happier with the brotherhood we've established. It's been an incredible 2015-16 year for the brothers of Alpha Gamma Rho, and we're excited for what the upcoming semesters have in store. Fraternally, Brandon Miller '14 (Γ1675) VNR Finance MeMbers Take Pride in keePing ChaPTer house in good shaPe A lot of exciting things have been going on at Gamma Chapter this year. If you haven't already heard, the Great Hall received some renovations over the summer. The wood has been taken down, the top half of the walls have been painted white, and the bottom half have been painted a greyish-blue color, separated by a white chair rail. The new paint has changed the outlook of the room, making the Great Hall appear much bigger. This could not have been done without the generous donations made by our gracious alumni. Although the Great Hall's new renovation was the biggest change to the décor of our house, it was in no way the only one. New curtains to further improve our aesthetics have been ordered, and we eagerly await to show them off. Next is my personal favorite improvement to the house: two of our most dedicated brothers, Pat Schlupp '15 (Γ1713) and Carl Ramsey '15 (Γ1728), added red mulch to our surrounding landscape, creating a vibrant and bold contrast against the stone wall of our house. One passerby even went so far as to say, "I don't think your house has ever looked better." Lastly, we have been very dedicated in keeping up with all of the local mandates. We passed the fire inspection with flying colors, and cleared our insurance inspection with no hitches whatsoever. This helped us to stay on task as we continue to find ways to keep living conditions in the house at an all-time high.
