5 alpha gamma rho Gamma Brothers Visit Delta Chapter at Purdue T his semester, the hard work of our chapter and VNR of recruitment, Ryan Moser '14 (Γ1678), brought us 16 new members. Our new members have been busy at Gamma getting to know the brothers and completing their membership education program. Amid the craziness of fall semester, we still found time to get away from State College from time to time. After meeting their big brothers a few weeks ago, two sophomore big brothers put forth some aggressive effort to plan a weekend retreat. With some help from the alumni, Nick Smith '16 (Γ1737) and Pat Schlupp '15 (Γ1713) (both accounting majors), we planned an RV road trip on Halloween weekend to visit Delta Chapter at Purdue. Seven new members and seven big brothers made the trek to Indiana together. We received a warm welcome from Delta Chapter and also saw Penn State take home a big 62-24 victory against the Boilermakers. Other big and little brothers went out for our second canning weekend of the semester, raising over $6,000 for the kids! Fraternally, David Ballinger '14 (Γ1672) VNR Membership Development Along with promoting high academic standards, the executive board and I have enacted several professional development programs for the brotherhood. One of the programs that we started this year was a semester speaker series. Dr. Rateau from the PSU College of Agriculture spoke to us before the fall career days event this semester. We also created a mentoring/networking database for undergraduate brothers to reach out to alumni in their field of interest. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or would like to be a part of either of these programs. We aim to continue our history of academic excellence as well as success in job placement for active brothers so any aid or collaboration from alumni is appreciated.
