H e m s t e d will accept the pr e s t i g iou s award at the Cow Palace in San Francisco on Saturday evening, Oct. 15. Hemsted was born into the cat- tle industry. He demonstrated his first love of the industry with the purchase of a heifer named "Dom- ino Princess the 44th" at the age of 10 in Millville. The funding has allowed the library to purchase new supplies for events as well as promotional materials. "We are very excited and thank- ful that the community has sup- ported this unique programming that supports creativity and uti- lizing the library in a different way," said Todd Deck, a member of the library staff. The forum was hosted by Bar- bara McIver, of Red Bluff Joint Union High School District, who introduced Red Bluff Joint High School District Superintendent Todd Brose, Maywood science teacher Steve Dillon, Operations Director of the California Can- nabis Industry Association Ben Bradley and Tehama County Dis- trict Attorney Gregg Cohen. Two of the more important propositions on the Nov. 8 ballot are Proposition 51 and Measure J that, if passed, would assist in up- grading and repair of school facil- ities in the county. Proposition 51, a kindergarten through community college pub- lic education facilities bond act, would authorize a statewide fa- cilities bond for K-12 schools and community colleges to upgrade and repair older classrooms and relieve overcrowding. Shylie Sedita, 2015-2016 Se- nior Queen, handed her title off to 2016-2017 Red Bluff Ju- nior Round-Up Senior Queen Joce Scarry, 16, of Palo Cedro. Scarry, a sophomore at Foot- hill High School, is the daugh- ter of Janet and Joe Scarry. She also won Senior Poise and Personality and Horse- manship. Senior Princess went to Tay- lor Hughes, 14, of Corning, who was first runner up, and Kaylin Schmidt, 12, of Cotton- wood, who was second runner up. Lexi Kanakis, 2015-2016 Junior Queen, crowned 2015- 2016 Little Miss Gracie Anne Sherrick, 8, of Redding with her new title of 2016-2017 Ju- nior Queen. Sherrick, who is in third grade at Prarie Creek Elemtentary, is the daughter of Heather and Jeff Sherrick. She also won high money for selling the most junior rodeo tickets and Junior Poise and Personality. Junior Princess went to Madisyn Hagen, 8, of Corn- ing who was first runner up and Miss Congeniality, and Jordan Hughes, 10, of Corn- ing, who was second runner up and Junior Horseman- ship.
